1000 Facts About The Bible {Book Review}
One of my grandson’s is getting ready to start Kingergarten, being homeschooled, and I’ve been looking for a few books to foster his love of reading while also building his faith. Being a five year old boy, he loves to look at pictures and graphics, so I knew this 1000 Facts About the Bible from National Geographic Kids would be perfect!
This beautifully illustrated, easy to follow reference inspires kids to discover more about the Bible, with its unique presentation of historical stories and facts. Packed with features like “25 Facts about Music and Poetry” and “35 Facts about Ancient Rulers,” and dozens more on palaces, beauty, gardens, fashion, and other aspects of life during biblical times, 1,000 Facts About the Bible is an engaging and kid-friendly take on the history, archeological discoveries, and stories of the Bible.
Originally I intended to give this book to my grandson for Easter as well as for school purposes. Well, it quickly hit the kitchen table and several discussions have been started! Not just with the grandson either but with his parents, my husband and even our preacher.
It’s a wonderfully illustrated book full of facts and figures, including:
* 15 Bouncing Biblical Baby Facts
* 25 Telling Facts About The Prophets
* 25 Villainous Facts and Dastardly Deeds
* 15 Facts About Noah and His Awesome Ark
* 75 Facts About Laws And Commandments
I can’t say it was all new information of course, but some things never crossed my mind like angels in the Bible are never mentioned to have wings but they are shown with wings in almost every artist portrayal. Or that many scholars believe Adam and Eve were vegetarians when they lived in the Garden of Eden.
Because of the colorful layout and quick & easy to read facts, this turned out to be a great book for the whole family. It kept my grandson’s attention which was the whole point, and got the family talking about the facts they were reading. I don’t feel it was slanted towards one religion or another personally, though I always recommend you confer with your Bible before believing something as truth.
You can learn more about the book, 1000 Facts About the Bible and purchase it through Amazon. It would make a great Easter gift as well as a resource to keep on the family bookshelf.
