20 Things for First Time Moms
New babies are so special. I read an article about smells and the number one scent that women listed as irresistible was “NEW BABY SMELL” That would be a duh from me. I love being a mom and I am loving every minute as a Granma.
There is nothing sweeter than to snuggle with a little one and drift off to sleep. I think I feel as much comfort in their arms as they seem to find in mine.
However, there were times as a new mother that I was at a loss. Those nights when I cried along with them because I could do nothing to comfort them or take away their illness/pain. Things like that are not in the manual that I was issued with my first child.
Wait… you didn’t get a manual? REALLY? Huh…funny thing is I didn’t either! Now don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of people telling me what I should or shouldn’t do and how to do it. But there wasn’t one book that I could go to that would show me how to be the perfect mother.
Hmmmmm, the perfect mother. Now at 52 years old I can look back and say there IS NO SUCH THING!!!! The best is our best. Each child, each situation and each family season is different. You have to discover what is PERFECT for your family and go with it.
That said, I ran across an article this morning while checking out my blog roll postings on 20 Lessons First Time Moms Learn Fast posted on Hire A Nanny.
Looking over their list would have been helpful way back in the day…LOL… but now I think I would have to reorder the list – from the granma point of view!
What would you list as the top 5 helping tips for new moms?

I remember being a first time mom and I had no idea what to do! I was only 17 when I had her and I was scared out of my mind. I felt so much love towards her but I also had resentment because I wanted to hang out with my friends. Eventually I moved past that now I’m happy and proud to be a mommy! She is my world and she’s perfect! 😉
