31 Days to a Clutter Free Life
Reducing clutter and getting organized is a priority for me right now. Since we are empty nesting, now is the time to clear out all the clutter and stuff that has been accumulated over the years. I recently read, 31 Days to a Clutter Free Life by Ruth Soukup.
Having seven children means we have a lot of stuff. Living in the same home for almost twenty five years means we have a lot of stuff. And some of this stuff; I am discovering that I haven’t seen in years!
This month I am working through the house and will be using the plan in the 31 Days to a Clutter Free Life.
Is Your STUFF Controlling Your Life?
Ruth Soukup knows all too well how stressful it can be to have a home packed to the gills, with an overbooked schedule to match. After years of overspending left her wallet painfully empty and her home painfully full. Ruth realized it was time for a massive change. She began clearing her life—and her home—of clutter, one small step at a time.
Now, over the course of thirty-one simple but powerful daily challenges she is sharing exactly how you can do it too. 31 Days to a Clutter Free Life will empower and inspire you to clear your life of the clutter that is filling up your home, mind, and schedule.
Over the course of this one-month challenge, you can:
- Eliminate clutter in all areas of your home and instead create functional spaces for all of your family’s many activities.
- Replace chaotic counters and overstuffed cupboards with a calming kitchen that makes cooking a joy.
- Overcome the destructive cycle of always needing more by paring down belongings to those you truly love.
- Stop overcommitting and instead learn to say no without guilt.
- Reduce stress in your home and family by clearing out the excess stuff that takes up so much of your time and energy.
- Create practical and functional storage solutions for every room in your home.
- Develop a working control center that keeps your entire family organized and on track.
- Learn the four simple strategies to staying clutter free forever.
What if, one month from today, your life could be different?
At any given time, most of us are stressed out with homes and schedules that feel chaotic and out of control. It is easy to be overwhelmed with the vast quantities of stuff that comes pouring into our homes. From trinkets and paperwork to endless obligations and activities. Wouldn’t it be nice to finally have a step-by-step guide to ridding our life of clutter? And instead creating an oasis of calm and order?

My Thoughts:
I have to say that I am enjoying her approach to clearing the clutter. I admit I have tried many methods to curb the massive amounts of stuff and paperwork that comes along with a family of nine that homeschool. Oh my…the homeschool stuff needs its own home!
For each area of the home that is addressed, there are suggested guidelines and directions along with several retail item images to spark your imagination on how to decorate with staying organized in mind.
Over the years I have learned that just clearing things out doesn’t keep things organized. Everything really does need a place to call home. Easy to say..not as easy to execute but I am trying.
While reading this book, I felt encouraged to not only start; but to stop when it no longer was comfortable. That said, there is something so freeing about unloading unwanted and unused things.
If you are ready to tackle the mountains of clutter in your home and life, give this book a long look. 31 Days to a Clutter Free Life is available on Amazon in kindle and paperback formats.
Don’t have a Kindle? Grab one for yourself. They are so nice to use for reading. I love my Kindle Fire and my little one uses the e-Reader version (just for reading without the added games and internet options).

This was really pin worthy for me! I too have lived in my home a long time- 23 years. Plus we are empty nesters and as much as we have told our children to come and get their stuff that they have left behind, they have chosen to ignore us. So I think that is where I will start. What isn’t ours has no place in our home!
Thank you for sharing!

This sounds like a book I need! We are a military fam and have moved so many times, each accruing more thing without purging the ones from before. I know it too well and it does stress me out seeing our home not at its optimal. Our library currently does not offer it but I did manage to find “declutter” by the same author. Looking forward to reading it.
