How to Fight with All That’s in You for Your Family and Faith
Were you taught how to fight when you were growing up? I wasn’t. I wasn’t taught that there are times when you need to fight with all that’s in you.
Once I became a Christian, then a wife and mom; I quickly discovered that Satan is strong in this world. The battles we face each day are not with our spouses or children..the battles are against the evil one. This month I have been digging into the scriptures with an amazing book by Heidi St John in her Becoming MomStrong ministry.
Book Description:
Have you ever looked into the faces of the people who call you “mom” and wondered what in the world you got yourself into? If you’re like many Christian moms today, you’ve been reading the headlines and watching the rapid-fire changes in our culture with frustration and fear. Let’s face it: Moms today are facing questions that previous generations didn’t even see coming, and even our right to determine what is best for our own children is under fire. Popular speaker and blogger Heidi St. John (The Busy Mom) believes that today’s mothers need a special kind of strength. We need to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. We dare not rely on human strength for the battles we’re facing right now. In Becoming MomStrong, Heidi has a powerful message just for you―the mom in the midst of it all. Through encouragement, practical prayer points, and authentic “me-too” moments, Heidi equips you for a job that only you can do: to train your children to hear God’s voice and to walk in truth no matter where our culture is heading. God wants to use this generation of mothers to do something extraordinary:
- To be strong in the Lord
- To know who you are in Christ, and
- To impart that strength to your kids.
In other words, He wants you to be MomStrong! So if you’re feeling tired or inadequate today, get ready to find new strength as you join Heidi St. John in Becoming MomStrong.

This powerful message is just for you―the mom in the midst of it all. About the Author:
Heidi St John is a mother, a grandmother, and a wife of 25 years. She is a popular conference speaker, radio personality, author and blogger whose message of returning to God’s Word and embracing our ministry as mothers has resonated with several hundred thousand followers in social media, through books, and radio appearances. Her refreshingly transparent, vulnerable style allows her readers to identify with her and invites them to join as fellow pilgrims on a journey rather than idolizing the author as someone who has “arrived”. Her calendar regularly has her speaking across the United States over twenty times in front of audiences as large as 20,000. Heidi lives in Battle Ground, Washington with her husband and five of their seven children ranging from age kindergarten to adulthood. When she’s not writing, traveling or speaking she loves to spend time with her grandchildren.
My Thoughts:
I found this book to be encouraging to moms that struggle with the idea of what a perfect mother looks like..and like most of us feel we fall way short and find fault in all our efforts. Parts of the book were both parts inspiring and yet convicting to my heart.
Being a mom of seven, I understand the struggles of all stages of parenting. Our last child recently got married and while my heart aches that our nest is empty..I know that my children are all strong in the Lord and that they know who they are – where they are going.
We have so much to teach our little ones and really have their hearts for a short time. Don’t let the busyness of the days keep you from staying on task and becoming MomStrong! I have been working through it and have to say that it has really touched my heart, even now that I am an empty nester.
This weekend, I plan on gifting all of my daughters and daughter in laws this book because it speaks to the heart of the problem that all moms face each day.
This book would make a great small group or solo bible study. There is a Becoming MomStrong Journal that I am also enjoying since I like to make notes while reading or looking up scriptures. Both my book and the journal have notes written on just about every page! One of my daughters asked for MY COPY of the book because she says that the notes I write usually are notes about one or more of the children and are memories that she wants to visit once I am gone. Well, I hope I am not leaving this world any time soon but this same daughter requested my bible when we were making our wills last summer.
Becoming MomStrong: How to Fight with All That’s in You for Your Family and Faith is available on Amazon in several formats including Paperback, Audible, and Kindle.
Don’t have a Kindle? Grab one for yourself. They are so nice to use for reading. I love my Kindle Fire and my little one uses the e-Reader version (just for reading without the added games and internet options).
