By the Way of the Storm
Is life full of storms? Are the waves of worry, anger, or frustration threatening to drown you? Have you felt God led your path right into a storm instead of around it? Oh, wow we worry, cry, fret, strike out, and lament to Him.. WHY WHY WHY??? And of course, we all KNOW that no one else could possibly understand exactly what we are going through or even care about it like we do. Friend, that is a lonely place to be. A place that you need to run from as fast as possible.
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. (Mark 4:37).
While we are not promised a smooth and calm life in Christ, we do have His promise to take us through the rough storms of life to safety on the other side. When you press on, your Heavenly father brings you through it. God calms the storm, shows you the path and once again displays how He is the Master.
Even though we have gone through this time and time again, we still doubt and question when things come along in our lives instead of celebrating in what a wonderful, thrilling God we have in our life. By allowing these distractions to pull us and our focus off the path we want to walk, we start drifting and that opens us up to being drawn into the worldly things around us.
Stop drifting! Get back on track and in the light of Christ. Take a moment and think about a couple of things.
- What are your priorities today?
~ Is Christ at the top of the list? - Are you walking in the Faith?
~ Have you spent any time in the Word or Prayer? - Are you living your life in such a way that others can easily see that Christ is the most important thing to you?
~What activities are you participating in that would cause someone to question your walk vs talk? - We are called to be a light in the darkness. Where does your light lead people?
~ Do others know that you are a Christian? Do the things you say, do, or participate in share the love of Christ?
God’s Plan
My belief is that it is God’s plan to take us on a path to eternity via the storms so that we can see the answered prayers! If we decide to stop in the middle of the journey and focus on the winds and the waves, that is our problem. We all know that whatever you focus on will expand. However, when we have faith we know the solutions in life storms are in His Word and He will see us through the storms of life.
Hold tight to the truth this year! Trust in God’s Word to light your path and keep you safe.

Thank you for this post. It’s easy for me to remember God is with me though the good times and I tend to forget Him in the bad. THanks for the reminder.

“By Way of the Storm”… every thing you said is so TRUE… yet, it is hard to remember, AT TIMES, that it is out of our hands and in God’s. Thank you for “By Way of the Storm.” Very real and very true.

I was meant to read this today. I have so been feeling this way lately and sometimes it is so hard to remember that God will get us through all that he leads us into. He is our savior and He is SO great!

So many times I’ve felt this way and really I feel this way right now, even though in my heart I know he’s always with me. I lost my sister in July (age 55) and 3 weeks after that my other sister (age 57 was diagnosed with colon cancer, and dealing with my own health problems, sometimes don’t even think he hears me, my sister going through surgery again tomorrow and I can’t be there with her. I remember my pastor saying several times, if you are not in a storm, you are either coming out or going into one.

I have often heard the same thing your pastor said… With the waves of life coming on we are not on the top for long before we are heading into the valley, through the valley and up the other mountain. Remember that Faith is not a feeling. Our feelings, especially as women are affected by so many things. Trust in the Lord, stay in His will and He will remain with you.

I had to see this post today…and believe me when I say, it could not be more true, right now for me & my family…I don’t know what made me click on it as I’m trying to respond to e-mails, etc…I’ve been kind of just skimming & sorry to say not giving everything the proper attention I should…then I put my arm on the keyboard & hit a wrong key…fussed at my self, then saw I had hit on your page & this very message…thank you for being a warrior in faith…for never doubting or looking back & seeing the beauty in everyone and everything. You’re amazing…as is your family. Love you
