Candied Popcorn

Candied Popcorn

Candied Popcorn

We love popcorn and until today I would have had to say that our favorite was the White Chocolate Popcorn but I am not so sure now…

Candied Popcorn is just too cute and easy to make. I love that you can make it in any flavor or color that you can find jello powder – and we all know that jello comes in a ton of flavors!

Give this recipe a try the next time you are making popcorn for a party or an event. We used Strawberry and S'Lime for this batch.

Ingredients:
1 bag of popped microwave popcorn- full size not snack
3 Tablespoons Light Corn syrup
1/4 cup butter
3 oz box of Jello
1/2 cup sugar

Candied Popcorn

Directions:
Pop popcorn and pour in large bowl to cool – pick out remaining kernels
Combine butter and corn syrup in a saucepan and heat over medium high
Once hot and bubbly, stir in the jello and sugar
Stir continuously until mixture starts to boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes
Drizzle the mixture over the popcorn and stir to coat
Spread popcorn on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or foil
Bake at 300 for 10 minutes
Completely cool before breaking popcorn apart and storing in airtight containers or bags

Family Votes: The strawberry had the best flavor but the S'Lime had the best consistency. Not sure if that was user error (differences in chefs) but we will be trying other flavors for the upcoming holidays.

This sounds good. I’d love to have strawberry, and I’ve been gathering up recipes and ideas for everything pink for a birthday party. This would be a good addition! esp in cute containers, pink natch!

This looks easy to make and so many occasions you could use it for. Changing up the colors works for holidays or sports teams. It’s caramel popcorn day but candied popcorn is good, too.

(Candied Popcorn) When I was a child my father use to make us kids popcorn balls to eat every now and then. It was such a treat to us whenever he made those for us.

I made 4 batches last night for an office party.

    Lime, orange, grape, and strawberry!

Next up? Mixing/drizzle two flavors into one batch, like the orange and lime. Two tastes in one bite.

I’ve never made candied popcorn with different colors so I didn’t even think of Jello being the perfect ingredient to add flavor and color! Now I’m imagining the many flavor and color combinations possible! Thanks for the recipe; I will definitely have to make this for Halloween!
