Looking for an impressive yet fun dinner? Try the Cheddar Chicken Broccoli Crescent Log!
This was not only delicious..It was fun to make. I liked the creamy mixture tucked inside a crescent log. It would be easy to include other tidbits of goodies buried in the cheese! Grab the kids and let them help with the braiding of the bread.

Ingredients:

2 cans Crescent Rolls
2 cups chicken, cooked and diced (canned works great)
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
2 cups broccoli, frozen, steamed and chopped
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 egg yolk
2 stalks Fresh rosemary, minced (if you are not used to fresh Rosemary, read our tutorial)

Directions:

Before starting to assemble, steam the broccoli, cook or drain the chicken and mince the rosemary.

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out both tubes of crescent rolls and press seams together making one large rectangle.

In a large bowl, combine chicken, cheese, broccoli and mayonnaise. This is where you stick in other goodies like mushrooms, onions, corn or anything you want to tuck away.

Spread mixture down the middle of the crescent dough creating a log.

With a sharp knife, cut strips about 1 inch apart down each side of the dough (create a fringe).

Fold the dough strips over the top of the chicken mixture, alternating left and right to create a braid. Yes, it looks like a mummy!

Brush the top of the braid with a beaten egg yolk and sprinkle fresh rosemary on top.

Bake for 30 – 35 minutes at 375 degrees. Remove from oven and allow to rest/cool for 10-15 minutes (if you cut it right away, all the cheesy mixture will slide right out!)

Slice and serve with a salad or if like our family, we made two of these bad boys and had this and dessert!

This looks like a pretty quick dinner to get together and super yummy. I love throwing some extra veggies in a meal like this (my kids never see it coming – the cheese masks the broccoli). It looks pretty too!
