Crusty Chicken

Crusty Chicken

Looking for a quick and simple way to serve chicken? You could serve this dish a different way every night of the week by simply changing up the seasons and type of cheese. It is almost goof proof!

I say almost goof proof because our family, like most…have those one or two that can burn boiling water! If you are skilled enough to make Mac n Cheese or Hot Dogs… you have the skill set to make this one! Only hard rule…cook the chicken all the way! Uncooked chicken will make you and your family oh so sick. Other than that, have fun with it. Change the seasons of the bread crumbs or type of cheese. Try adding sesame or poppy seeds to the bread crumbs. There is no wrong way to make this..only what you enjoy!

Ingredients:

4 boneless/skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup bread crumbs (plain or seasoned)
2 Tablespoons Bacon Bits (3 slices real – chopped)
1/4 cup shredded cheese (your choice)
1/2 stick melted butter
Salt, Pepper and Garlic Salt to taste

Directions:

In large flat bottom pan, combine bread crumbs, bacon, and cheese
Melt butter in a flat bottom baking dish or saucer
Remove chicken from package and pat dry. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and garlic salt to taste
Dip both sides of the chicken in the melted butter. Make sure to get it well covered
Roll chicken in bread mixture until well coated on both sides (press chicken into mixture)
Place chicken on an oven proof baking dish or cookie sheet
Sprinkle remaining bread mixture over chicken and drizzle with any remaining butter
Bake in preheated oven set at 350 for 30-40 minutes until chicken is done

I like a recipe that can be altered without much fuss according to what I have in the pantry/refrigerator. Chicken is a staple at our house and I always appreciate new ways ot preparing it.

I am not much of a cook but I know I could make this recipe for dinner one night. I love that there is bacon in it. It’s a great recipe and I like that it bakes in the oven.

This sounds good! I may make this and put cornflakes on it for some crunch and extra flavor. I use a recipe for the cornflake chicken right now and it could use more flavor so this would probably be good!

This recipe sounds really good but really fattening. I’d have to try and come up with a lower calorie way of making it. Thanks for letting me know about it.

I make something similar, using an egg wash and then whole wheat bread crumbs. That butter wash sounds tastier! I just saute in olive oil rather than bake; I’m afraid I haven’t lit my oven in, oh, a few decades …
