Guess we can not longer call our week the 2012 Staycation as we hit the road at oh dark thirty….
And we are off….
Rebekah can sleep anywhere at anytime!
First pit stop was for breakfast and coffee…. what better two places than Lenny’s oops I mean Denny’s and Starbucks! And to find both on same exit, same street…next door to each other!!!!! I am in vacation heaven LOL…
Back on the road for just a little while when I hear from back seat… “Look mom, we are a live origami display!”
There is a set of captain chairs between the front seats and the bench. The girls for some reason have to fold down the seats and pile on each other on the bench in the back row. Usually they put their feet up on the folded seats but when sleeping they sort of stack up on the bench.
Time for fuel and more coffee….. We are in Kokomo, Indiana!
Need I mention that I am a coffee nut? I drink it all day, every day!
Several years ago, after presenting to my husband how much money I could actually save by purchasing a Nespresso machine….he bought one for me! Now I only stop in for a Starbucks maybe once a week instead of daily. Wonder if they will let me keep my Gold Membership card next year? hmmm
I can now make my own latte’s for less than $1.00 at home. SWEET!
Back on the road…rain rain go away…..oh my…the rain….and the long, long, long boring drive from Indianapolis to Michigan….snore fest!
This is the view…for hours!
No where to stop, nothing to look at…even the radio was scratchy.
Got to use my new to me Sirius radio for the first time! Hubby received one several years ago for a gift but we had cancelled the subscription to it. We received an email last week offering a six-month service agreement for $24.99 (for 6 months!). Hubby activated it on day 2 of our week and now I have more music than I can listen to in my van!
We arrived in Michigan! Cheers heard from back seat…POOLTIME weeee
As we approached the hotel, it became clear that they had used stock corporate pictures and not actual snap shots of the location. Oh boy! Too late to cancel reservations and most of the surrounding hotels were sold out.
You have to step outside to change your mind!
Kitchen and work counter are the best parts for me…
We made a trip through the lobby and the clerk asked how we liked our room. My and my mouth spouted…I wish you had used actual photographs instead of corporate shots. The room is a lot smaller than the online pictures. I went on to state that it was one of the cleanest hotels we have been in for a long long time. She laughed at the photo comment and said that maybe the breakfast bar would make it up to me.
I didn’t think anything more about it until later when I went to the dining area for a coffee. The desk clerk called me over and said that she had discounted our room for 10%…what a surprise and unexpected blessing.
Our night ended with visiting family for dinner and relaxing by the televisions while I worked online from the kitchen/desk.
Tomorrow is prep day for the family reunion on Saturday. Should be a long and trying errr I mean exciting day!
