Droid App Review
Safe Text and Drive
Do you text and drive? I started using my Bluetooth for phone calls while driving to help keep my focus on the road and off who is calling me. With that in mind, I went in search of an App that would read my texts to me and announce who was calling so I didn’t have to worry about touching my phone.
What I found…. was an App that would all me to know when my teen drivers were texting! Hmmmm…. this might come in handy. I wonder if we put it on all our phones would it make us think before texting while driving?
Make sure to double check the price (FREE)..before clicking purchase. App prices tend to change at a blink of an eye.

Product Description
Safe Text and Drive provides you with a way to track the texting and driving habits of your loved ones. The purpose of this app is not to restrict the ability to text while driving as this may cause additional distractions when on the road. By knowing one’s texting and driving habits, measures can then be put into place to help reduce these bad habits. This app is to be installed on your loved one’s phone. This application DOES NOT read, write, or store any of the information being sent via text. It only senses when a text is being sent from the phone. SafeText runs in the background of your phone and will detect when a text message is sent. If a text is sent while driving, a phone number that you set up will receive a message notifying you of the event. (Standard messaging rates apply)The driving history is also saved to your account so it can be downloaded on your phone after you login to the app. This provides you with another method to view the texting and driving history besides text notifications. For best results please make sure that the phone’s GPS has been turned on.

Never heard of this before. Very interesting! I don’t talk and drive… let alone text and drive (is that even possible)?!
Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend!

In Canada it is against the law to text and drive. Only hands-free devices are used. I don’t text at all so I won’t get caught.

That’s a really good idea. I never text and drive because my brother was hit and killed by a car so I give the road my full attention.

that sounds like a really interesting app! I am guilty of looking at my phone at red lights…

The idea of a safe way to text and drive (just going from your title) does sound interesting, since so many people do it anyways… but wouldn’t the nicest thing be automated cars? I heard a whole article on NPR about how it would make driving almost 90% safer, but it will probably not happen anytime soon because they can’t figure out liability… and that perscription drugs had the same problem until the government stepped in and set up a fund to pay lawsuits… It would be nice if they could do that again for cars.

While I absolutely love that kids can be tracked if they are texting and driving by their parents on the one hand–it kind of makes me uneasy to think that this can be used to track the actual phone and where it is via GPS–I’d worry that someone could track my phone who had no business doing so–and I am not talking about the police or even the insurance companies (who obviously can do this now.) I am talking about the sickos out there who will surely use this type app to cause problems!!
