Everyday Matters Bible for Women
Timing is a strange thing. I had just had a conversation with another Christian mom about my need for strong women’s prayer and study group. I find that because I stay so busy with the demands of just living in a large family and being self-employed that I often end up feeling drained. I have been praying for a connection to be made with a couple of ladies so we can help lift and encourage each other while digging deeper into the Word. Some accountability wouldn’t hurt me either!
So, when I received the Everyday Matters Bible for Women, I had to smile. First it is just beautiful with the turquoise and pink flowers on the dust jacket. Secondly, it is geared towards women that are looking for a deeper knowledge of areas of service or responsibility.
The version I received is written in the New Living Translation. While this is not my normal translation used for study I found myself digging in and comparing text and word meanings. It certainly has been beneficial in my daily studying.
At first, the pages being so thin bothered me. I like to make notes in the margins and found that not only was the printed words visible through the pages but my notes were really distracting on the next page. However, the print is a nice size and there is plenty of room to make little notes.
The best part and what makes the Everyday Matters Bible for Women unique are the 24 areas of study that are highlighted throughout the Bible. Each area is marked with an icon that clearly marks the theme being covered.
The 24 areas covered include:
Acceptance // Bible Study // Celebration // Community // Confession // Contemplation // Faith // Fasting // Forgiveness // Gratitude // Hospitality // Justice // Mentoring // Outreach // Prayer // Reconciliation // Sabbath and Rest // Service // Silence // Simplicity // Solitude // Stewardship // Submission // Worship
The 24 areas are referenced in over 300 articles and use a 4 way method of teaching.
~ The material is presented in by topic with the scripture passage
~ It is further defined through stories of women in the Bible
~ Examples of practical applications are presented for use
~ It builds on a foundation of faith
I have been using the Everyday Matters Bible for Women for several weeks and find that I am spending more time reading the scriptures that are referenced in the articles or themes. This has been a great springboard for discussions with my girls on topics for women. I find the suggested reading will often have me deep into a study that splits off into other topics. I have enjoyed using and adding this to my study materials at home.
