Glazed Chicken

Glazed Chicken

Needing to cook a monster bag of chicken leg quarters that have been in the freezer for weeks got me to thinking about the easiest way to cook t all at once. I didn't want to grill out but I was in the mood for a grilled type of chicken for dinner.

So, I tossed a simple glaze together and this was the result!

Ingredients:
8 leg quarters or enough chicken for your crew and possible leftovers
1 cup Honey
1 cup Soy Sauce
4 tablespoons minced garlic

Directions:

  • Place chicken on large cookie sheet (we have to use two (2) cookie sheets for quantity)
  • Salt and Pepper chicken on both sides to taste
  • In a large bowl or mixing cup, combine honey, soy and garlic…mix well
  • Pour glaze mixture over chicken (you may have to spoon garlic from bottom on dish as it settles)
  • Bake in a 350 oven for 50-60 minutes (I turn my chicken over about mid way in cooking and I rotate pans for more even cooking)

Super simple!

Notes:

  • Glaze above is enough for 7-9 leg quarters – cut in half if only cooking 3-4 pieces of chicken
  • I like to spoon the glaze over the top of the chicken when I flip it over and rotate the pans
  • Clean up can be a bear so think about lining pan with heavy duty foil or treating with non stick spray
  • Chicken can be marinaded in glaze and grilled outside if you have someone that likes to grill out

Do you have a simple way to fix large batches of food?

I just finished eating dinner & when I saw the picture of your glazed chicken, my mouth started to water. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I think it is the perfect way to handle a large batch of chicken or even dinner for 2.

I was lucky to partake of this yummy chicken fixing meal. I think the only thing I might do different (for my household) would be more garlic and maybe marinate overnight?

I’d also add the sauce itself would be wonderful for chicken wings either baked or fried!

Sounds delicous and easy. I had to chuckle when I read that you switch around your pans in the oven to get even cooking. Sounds like my very old oven.

The glaze looks really yummy! I love to cook chicken in the oven. I use a glass baking dish, and spray it then add foil and spray that. I season my chicken with Herbs de Province, a little salt and pepper and bake till golden brown. The skin will be crunchy and delicious and the chicken is juicy. I will have to try your recipe. It will be a nice change up to my chicken! Thanks for sharing.

this is a great idea for times when leg quarters go on sale. I really don’t care about light or dark meat so long as it is chicken. Easy recipe – sounds good, thanks!

I think there are more ways to cook chicken than days in a year! It is so easy to use that we eat it several times a week.

You can also change out the garlic for ginger or any other spice that you like. The honey and soy are the real components to the glaze.

I don’t eat chicken, but I bet that glaze would work awesome with pork too! Sounds yummy.
