Using Hashtags in Facebook
Are you using (#) hashtags in posting or searches on Facebook? A new tool was recently rolled out by Facebook that allows users to tag (with the #) words that can be searched by other users. For example, I am in a FB group for local bloggers – our hashtag is #cincybloggers. If you enter that hashtag into your Facebook search bar, all the posts made by the group will be listed. This is so helpful when you are looking for something say for #homeschooling, #chickenrecipes or #coupons!
If you haven’t started yet, check out this tutorial by Krishna De. Her slideshow explains how and when to use them as well as where to find more information on this topic.

Give it a try! What hashtags will you be searching for on Facebook? Some of my favorite hashtags are #missiongiveaway, #payitforward and of course #cincybloggers!

Huh, I didn’t know this. I thought people were just using hashtags to be obnoxious.

I had no clue. Thanks for explaining. I don’t understand hash tags really. I don’t tweet so I’ve never really used them, but I can see where that would be useful in searching. It’s like a google search where you put quotation marks around words that should be found together in a phrase. Just makes finding what you want a lot easier.

Exactly like using ” ” around your search in Google.
