Homemaker’s Friend Daily Planner
Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
I am a list addict. I make lists for everything…
Not that I follow my lists or that I can even find my lists when I need them, but I make them. I have all the intentions of using them. But then…
Life happens. I think what I like about this planner from the Homemakers Friend is that it takes into account “life” by leaving places for those other things that are uniquely homemaker issues.
And as a Blogger, I know the importance of planning and keeping on top of everything…I just struggle keep both my homemaker demands and my blogger demands under control. It seems like one or the other is screaming for my attention. Just like little children, they don’t share me well!
Recently I was asked to use and review the 2014 Daily Planner by Homemakers Friend. I believe the creator of this planner spent many hours praying over the needs of homemakers and how best to help them meet those needs.
Here is a little information from the publisher:
A homemaker’s life consists of innumerable details. Appointments, church activities, school schedules, and homemaking in general, repeatedly demand her time and attention. Written tasks help to organize our days and duties and it frees the mind to focus on what is most important.
A planner helps create a visual layout of a week or month. We measure time by years, months, weeks, and days. Likewise, events, projects, and normal daily duties can be categorized in the same orderly way. The Yearly Calendar gives a quick overview. The Monthly Calendar shows at a glance what is taking place. The Weekly Calendar is more detailed to help keep us focused.
A planner can help to schedule time more efficiently, which gives freedom to enjoy life in a relaxed, productive way. It is a place to write upcoming church/school/social events, household jobs, children activities and more. Written schedules and events give direction when planning and arranging other activities. While paper and pencil are essential instruments in scheduling, it is the eraser that keeps things flexible.
It sounds awesome doesn’t? I like the different sections and found them well thought out and not containing any wasted space or unused pages.
The sections are broken down by:
A Yearly Calendar – One square for each month to note upcoming events. I use it for a quick note just as a reminder to check the detail for the month before confirming another event.
A Monthly Calendar – This is a two page per month with a single box per day. Again, not a great deal of space to write but enough to make a note so you can see at a quick glance if there are other activities on the day in question.
Weekly Planning – This section includes a larger block for each day with seven lines to make notes of activities and appointments.
There is a Tasks Section for an ongoing to do list or check off list. I like to use the task lists for daily chores or things that I need to at least make sure the kids are handling.
Projects and Events – This section is for those larger events that you need more space for writing. Great for planning a shower or a family gathering as you have space to great shopping list, job lists and other details that you need to work into your plan.
Personal Information – Keep all your names, phone numbers and address/emails in one place. I tend to use this space for a holding spot for contact information until I can get home and enter it into my computer.
Shopping Lists – These are perforated so you can tear off a list and run into the store or toss when you have completed the shopping. I printed a master shopping list and glued it on the first tab. I then make note of what I need when I am waiting somewhere on one of the children and then just tear off the strip and send one of the teens to the store!
Another create feature is that it fits in my purse! This planner is spiral bound and is just a little under 6×9 inches.
As with any planner, it only works as well as you use it. What makes this planner unique, are the spiritual and encouraging quotes dispersed throughout. It is so uplifting to read a quote or scripture each time I reach for my planner.

I am ADDICTED to planners, and this looks like a great one! I love that it has a ‘tasks’ section, I have to remind myself of my long list of daily duties or I will forget!
