How to Make Perfect Instant Coffee
Did you read my post on my favorite beverages? If not, you can read it here.
In the favorites post, I mentioned that I like #Folgers instant coffee. Wow.. the comments received about how bad instant coffee was surprised me. One reader asked that I demonstrate my method of creating a drinkable mug of instant coffee.
I prefer #Folgers but #Taster’s Choice is a close second in my book. I haven’t found another brand that I really care for and some I would do without before drinking.
My Instant Coffee Directions……
Grab your favorite mug! Yes, drinking out of a mug you like does matter.
Place 1 heaping teaspoon of instant coffee in mug.
The trick to instant coffee is the temperature of the water. It needs to be just this side of boiling. Too cool and the coffee doesn’t completely dissolve leaving a film and granular feeling. Thus the NASTY reputation! Too hot (boiling) makes the coffee bitter. I have an instant hot dispenser on my #Cuisinart coffee maker that is perfect for instant coffee (and hot chocolates).
I fill my mug about 1/4 full and then stir the coffee until completely dissolved. I also add my #Splenda at this point.
Once completely dissolved, I add the remaining hot water..leaving room for my creamer.
And this my friends…is how I enjoy my instant coffee whether at home or on the road. I always have a baggie of single serve instant coffee packets as well as a handful of Splenda packages.
How do you make your favorite beverage?

I could probably tolerate instant coffee if I added cream and sweetener, but I just never have been able to tolerate sweet coffee, it just doesn’t seem like coffee to me if it’s sweet.

I used to hate instant coffee but Folder’s sent me out a sample not that long ago and I was in a hurry and decided to give it another try. I was so impressed. For years I thought instant coffee was disgusting but it turns out I must have had a bad or generic brand because I liked it so much that I went out and bought an huge bottle of it!

Oh dear…I only use instant coffee to add to things like brownies or cakes. I would use it only for coffee if there was absolutely nothing left.

I used to be that way too… then I went on a trip and someone made it for me “the right way”… been sold ever since. I still brew a pot when my husband is home but if I am alone for the day… instant it is.

I am not a coffee drinker but learning how to make a good cup of instant coffee is a handy bit of info to have on hand, so when guests come over to visit, I can offer to make them a cup of coffee “with confidence”. Thanks for the share!!

I drink lots of instant coffee. The first time I ever made it – as an office assistant – it was a disaster. I wish I had access to this post back then. Thanks for the great tips.
