Make Ahead Salad

Make Ahead Salad

Looking for a salad that you can make hours if not the day before and it still be just a fresh and wonderful? Try our Make Ahead Salad. The trick to keeping it fresh is the frozen peas.

Make Ahead Salad

Ingredients:
1 Head or Bag of lettuce (shredded)
1 Red Onion – diced
1 Bunch Celery – diced
1 Cup Mayo
4-5 Tablespoons Sugar or Splenda
1 Bag Frozen Peas
1 Pound Bacon – cooked and crumbled
1 Bag Shredded Cheddar Cheese (2 cups)

Directions:
Layer shredded lettuce in bottom of serving dish
Top with a layer of red onions, then celery
Combine Mayo and sugar together and spread over the celery making sure to cover from edge to edge (seal top)
Spread a layer of frozen peas
Crumble bacon as next layer
Top with shredded cheese

When ready to serve, just scoop out as needed. Do not mix it together.

This is one of my favorite salads! I had never heard of it until a few years ago when my sister made it.

This salad posting sounded so good, When I shopped this morning I picked up all the fixings to make salad tonight. The cashier looked at me kind of funny. Usually on my weekly trip I get frozen dinners and junk food.

This is a good idea. I like to grab a quick salad for dinner but don’t want to take the time to make one just for myself.

I never thought to try it that way. Aren’t the peas uncooked? I’m not much of a cook, obviously, if I’m wondering if frozen peas are cooked or raw.
