Meet A Friend Friday 4.19

I am so pleased to be able to introduce you to another great fellow blogger from Blog By Donna!   Please welcome Donna from Blog By Donna to Simply Sherryl!  She’s answered my questions, but if you are curious about more, leave your questions below and I’m sure she’ll come by and answer them too!

1. Tell us a little bit about your blog:

Blog by Donna is a bit of a hodgepodge I guess. I cover a myriad of topics, from my personal weight loss journey, to talking about my son, to sponsored posts, reviews, and giveaways. I also feature many guest bloggers – love guest bloggers!

 

2. How long have you been blogging and what do you love about it?

April 1st will make 5 years for me. I started out blogging as a way to promote my CafePress shop. It didn’t take me but a few weeks to realize I loved writing far more than I did designing T-Shirts. I love everything about blogging… from the flexibility to the creative process of writing.

 

3. Who is the person or group behind the blog?

That would be me, Donna. I am a wife and mom, first and foremost, who loves to write about whatever strikes my fancy, review products and share them with my readers, and offering my readers a chance to win things through giveaways.

I also am a social media fanatic. I love sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. I spend almost three years as a social media consultant and/or freelance writer, working with small blogs to fortune 500 companies. Then I decided I wanted to devote my time on my blog on a full-time basis.

 

4. What hobbies/interests do you have?

I live in Knoxville, TN, near the Great Smoky Mountains and love hiking them. We try to go hiking at least twice a month. I love reading, but don’t get the chance to read near enough lately.

 

5. What is your favorite topic to write about?

My son. I don’t write about him often and when he tells me to stop, I will, but I could write books about him. Really.

I also enjoy humor. I love to laugh. I wish I was as funny as I think I am. In my own head… I’m hilarious!

 

6. What advice would you give to new bloggers?

You get back what you give out. What I mean is connect with other bloggers and comment on their blogs, with meaningful comments. Join forums, Facebook groups, etc. and mutually share your fellow bloggers blogs/posts.

Most importantly, have fun!

 

7. Do you use a blogging planner and if so, which one? Why?

No. But I really need to. I did see a free one the other day, to print out and bind yourself, so I plan on doing that one over the next couple of weeks. 🙂 I do use Google Calendar, Evernote, and Dropbox to keep up with everything regarding my blog.

10. Are you planning on attending any of the Blogging Conferences this year? If so, which ones?

Not yet. I do hope to be able to start attending blogging conferences, though.

 

11. Anything else you would like for the readers to know about you or your blog?

As much as I love to write, and review products and share them with my readers, and offer giveaways to my readers, I love spending time with my family and on social media, so I have come to appreciate guest bloggers, and use them regularly.
