November BlogHer Writing Challenge Day 3
Wednesday, November 5 ~ Prompt:
Do you feel you have found your voice on your blog? What techniques have you tried to develop your voice in your writing? What are some characteristics of your personality in your writing?
Have I found my voice on my blog? It’s funny that this is a question this month, as I have been struggling with this issue for a while on Simply Sherryl. When I first started posting on Simply Sherryl, my goal was to help other women that struggle with the chaos of life. Seeking the Simple in the Chaos is the tag line for Simply Sherryl.
Being a mom of seven as well as a homeschooling family living on one income, we made certain decisions and choices for our family to have the “chaos” we love. Faith is extremely important to us and we want to share our beliefs with others; which was another “voice” I wanted to be heard on Simply Sherryl.
When I think about Simply Sherryl – I want it to represent a resource for women to find ways to keep things simple. I am all about trying new things, but I really dislike having to recreate the wheel every time. I want Simply Sherryl to be an well-worn book full of recipes, crafts, homemaking tips, homeschooling ideas and most importantly a place to find encouragement to study the scriptures and develop a relationship with Christ.
Am I showing my readers my voice? In some areas I feel my voice is heard; while in others I am not so sure. I will be spending the month of December praying and making a plan for 2015. Perhaps having a planned editorial calendar will be what is needed to make sure that my voice is sharing what I feel is important..instead of just making noise.
Today’s post is Day 3 of a month long group blogger challenge. If you missed any of the previous challenges, you can catch up HERE.
