Picky Eater Food Paint
Do you have picky eaters in your home? I have a few that are very selective and the rest are pretty easy going. I never expect all of my kids to love everything I put in front of them. But it can be a battle sometimes to even get a single bite in them! So what is a parent to do? Thankfully, a company named NOSHI has come up with the perfect solution: picky eater food paint! Yes, delicious and edible “paint” your picky eaters can use to decorate and flavor their foods. Let me share with you a few ways we’ve started using it here at home.
About NOSHI Food Paint
Food Paint is a set of three tubes of yummy, different-colored organic fruit puree: red strawberry, yellow peach and blueberry. It gives kids more responsibility in the prep of their food, something which is proven to make kids eat more and gets them excited about mealtimes (what kid doesn’t like to draw?) Noshi Food Paint – fruit flavored: strawberry peach blueberry – edible crafts – kids paint – healthy food – organic toddler food – gluten-free – vegan – condiment – syrup – sauce – fun food for kids – painting for kids – paint cookies – kids in the kitchen.
Great for picky eaters and budding artists, Food Paint is organic and vegan. It contains no gluten, no processed sugars, no salt and no artificial preservatives or artificial colors.
Family Time
Growing up in the South, sharing food around the table has always been a big part of family life. It seems everything was discussed around the kitchen table over a meal or even just a cup of coffee. And now with my own children and grandchildren, this is still true! The kitchen table is the congregating place for adults and kids alike.
We love food from all over the world, and we try to instill this appreciation of different food cultures in the kids when they are still young. But when you have a picky eater who won’t touch “normal” kid foods besides crackers, hot dogs, and macaroni, it can be hard to get them on board with a meal that everyone else is eating!
I don’t want anyone to feel left out and certainly no one goes hungry in my house, but still…
Polite Bite Plus One
We have a rule in my house that everyone, including the adults and visitors, must follow. It’s called the Polite Bite Plus One! What this means is instead of just refusing to eat something, you have to have a polite bite to show respect for the person who made it. And then you must have one more, because if you get all worked up and choke down the first bite as fast as you can, you may not really taste the food. So you taste it again with that “plus one” bite to really get an idea of whether you want a serving of whatever is being offered.
So what do I do with picky eaters?
Sometimes they just need to eat something I know they like but are arguing with me about because I said so. But in some cases, they really are against eating something new to them and I know that can make some personalities very uncomfortable, even in children. Instead of giving up, I have turned to the NOSHI Food Paint products to let those picky eaters have some control and input into whatever food is giving them trouble. Plus it’s organic ingredients and low sugar content make it a great choice for the family. We call it picky eater food paint in my house.
Food Paint
The set of food paint comes in three small tubes, each having a different color and flavor. There is red (strawberry), blue (blueberry), and yellow (peach) to choose from. Each tube is filled with an organic fruit mixture including the main fruit and other natural flavors. The tubes are squeezed like a toothpaste tube and can be squirted directly onto the food, a plate, or into a mixing bowl if it’s going in as part of the preparation. Then the kids can use their fingers, utensils, or even other food items to pain, decorate, and flavor their food with the picky eater food paint!
How are we using the NOSHI Food Paints in my house?
Just this week I had 2 different children break out the tubes with their meals. The youngest was playing with the white rice I had put on her plate with lunch, just pushing it around. She normally eats it but not that day. Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal but I needed her to eat it since it was part of the meal. Then I remembered the food paints! I grabbed them and showed her the different colors and flavors she could “play” with on her food. She tested each one, and finally added the blue/purple one to her rice and ate it all up!!
Another time we used it was at breakfast when one of the boys wanted an English muffin with fruit on top. I had the muffin and I had butter, but he started complaining about not having the fruit he likes. Problem solved! I let him decorate his English muffin with the food paint that tasted like blueberries and peaches and he was a happy camper. So was Mom at that point! And I had toast with food paint too! Picky eater food paint for the win!
Natural Ingredients
As a parent, I love that these are made from natural ingredients instead of being full of sugar and chemicals we find in so many food products these days. Plus it’s low in sugar but still sweet because of the fruit that’s in it. And it’s fun to play with, whether the kids want to paint with it, or just flavor something on their plate. It’s even a great way to get a new “chef” to help in the kitchen because they can handle the tube and squeezing the contents into a bowl or on a plate to help make a dish. The kids have even played tic-tac-toe on their waffles before, using colored dots in the squares for x’s and o’s.

Now this is something I need to mention to my son. Instead of giving them time out for not eating what was on their plate my grandsons can use this food paint to make their food interesting to them.

This is interesting have never heard of it before. My great niece is almost 3 and when she spends the day with me sometimes she eats sometimes she doesn’t. She has taught me she is hungry she will let me know. Or go to the cabinet or refrigerator and pull something out.

Great idea. We had a child who also was a picky eater. My wife would make an edible paydo out of peanut butter and flour cookies mix. He would make 3D dinosaurs that she would bake for him.
