PrayerPoints: Praying God’s Promises at Your Point of Need
Since watching the movie last year about how powerful prayer can be in our lives, I have been bouncing between staying in prayer and being blindsided and distracted by life. So many times I find myself sitting down to pray and…nothing comes out. I don’t know where to start. I am overwhelmed. So I start stumbling with my words. My emotions start bubbling up and I just sit there with tear dripping from my face. Why?
I ask myself that every day. Why do I find it so hard to pray for myself. Why can I pull out scriptures for a sister that is hurting but I don’t know where to look for my needs?
I recently received a book and let me tell you that I pull this book out every morning for encouragement and it is what I reach for when I need to look up scriptures.
Prayer Points is about the size of your hand and can slip into a pocket or into my bag whenever I go to visit someone. It is a beautiful book, covered in a soft imitation leather with trees. Psalm 145:18 “The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth” is embossed on the front cover.
What really makes this a special book are the prayers and scriptures on areas that most of us find ourselves searching for comfort or answers.
Can’t find the words needed to comfort a friend? There is a nice index in the back will point you to a page in the book with a prayer written especially for the need you are trying to have met. Areas includes dealing with emotional abuse, addiction, depression, conflicts in your marriage or your kids are driving you nuts, there’s a suggested prayer as well as scripture suggestions to provide encouragement.
Think about it . . . you feel more alive, whole, and centered when you’re firmly connected to God and anchored in his Word. You cling to him, give him your best moments, and talk with him nonstop. But then, there are times when you just don’t know how to sincerely express yourself through prayer. You’re at a loss for words, and a sense of helplessness takes hold of your heart.
God desperately wants to hear from you! Prayer Points lets you take what you’re feeling right now, quickly connect your needs to God’s Word, and then pray through his promises as they relate to your specific need.
Don’t abandon your prayer life because you can’t find the right words to say. Let Prayer Points guide your thoughts, direct you to the heart of Scripture, and move you to a place of wholehearted, all-out, amazing relationship with God.
