Pressure Cooker Sloppy Joe’s Recipe
Menu planning and spending a little time each week with meal prep has saved me so much money and time that I rarely get caught without having something planned for dinner..unless life happens. We all have those days when we are not feeling well or one of the little ones is sick or the phone rings and someone needs you to come help them. These are the nights I reach for a quick meal that I know can be on the table within a few minutes. Our sloppy joe recipe tops the list.
Let me say here that although my children will eat the canned sloppy joe sauce over meat, neither my husband or I can tolerate it. This version is so simple and it freezes well if you want to make it ahead to save even more time.
Ingredients:
2 pounds Ground Beef
2 cups Picante Sauce
1 cups Barbecue sauce
Hamburger or Favorite Bun, Bread or Tortilla Wrap
Optional:
2-3 Green Onions
1 diced onion
2-3 stalks celery, sliced thin
1 cup Shredded Cheese
Directions:
Set up Instant Pot and press the saute button to allow the unit to heat up
When the LED screen reads HOT add the ground beef, breaking apart as it browns completely
If adding onions, chop and toss in with the hamburger as it is cooking
Once the hamburger is cooked, drain if needed (depending on the fat content of your meat this may not be necessary), and return to Instant Pot Insert
Add the picante and barbecue sauce, stirring to combine
Press cancel on the Instant Pot, lock lid in place and set vent to seal
Press manual or pressure cook (depending on your model) and adjust time to two (2) minutes
Once cooking time is over, do a quick release
Stir meat mixture and serve
This recipe makes 10 servings. Split the ingredients if needed for a smaller family or if you do not want leftovers. However, this meat mixture makes for a quick lunch the next day in a wrap or on a salad.
Recipe Notes:
If you are tracking Weight Watcher Points, this recipe using a standard bun is approximately 7 Weight Watchers PointsPlus* or 8 Weight Watchers SmartPoints*.
You can lower the point count for this dish pretty easily. Consider the following options which save points on your meal.
Opt for the sandwich thin bun to replace a regular hamburger bun and save up to 2 Points.
Enjoy your sloppy joe with only half a bun for an open face sandwich and save up to 2 points.
Ditch the bread altogether and enjoy the sloppy joe meat served on a bed of salad greens and save up to up to 4 points.
Additionally you can add ingredients to bulk up this recipe depending on your family. Try adding mushrooms, onions, peppers, shredded cabbage or kale to create a unique mixture for sandwiches that also includes high nutrient ingredients.

Still thinking about buying a pressure cooker? We recommend the Instant Pot or the Power Pressure Cooker XL. Both are super simple to use, but in my opinion the Instant Pot offers a few more features and is a little more user friendly. Both however are solid units and work great!

Would never have though about using a presser cooker on sloppy joes. As slow as I am can fix a pan full in less than 20 minutes. But I did like your sauce and will try next time. I love making a big batch and freezing some in two servings for when ever.
