Schoolofbookkeeping.com {Review}
When I was first asked to review the schoolofbookkeeping.com I was curious how their training would work from an online basis. Since we homeschool, I also had in the back of my mind that this might be a great high school course for my girls to complete at their own pace.
What I found by going through several of the classes was completely different.
First let me tell you a little about this company:
Schoolofbookkeeping.com is an online financial learning company that teaches bookkeepers, accountants, financial professionals and business owners not only the basics of bookkeeping, but goes so far as to teach how to read a financial statement, prepare forecasting and business planning models, and in depth accounting skills that would be fundamental to professionals looking to get ahead in the field.
This is a subscription plan where members have unlimited access to an extensive library of video content. All videos are the highest in quality and new courses are being added weekly.
The first course that I jumped in was the Bookkeeping Fundamentals With QuickBooks. This course is made up of 34 video lessons that cover the basics from “What is Bookkeeping” through “How to Prepare Payroll”. Each lesson is anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes.
Having an accounting background, I was expecting this to be a fluff course. I WAS WRONG! Now, the course does start with the basics and even if tempted to skip ahead a couple of lessons, I wouldn’t. Each lesson covered will provide you with nuggets of information that will increase your knowledge and skill set.
No longer do you have to wonder what your bookkeeper is doing or what all those numbers mean on the forms your accountant is asking you to sign. Now you will be able to read and understand, if not prepare your own financial records. From my position as someone that does taxes for both individuals and small business owners; if my clients understood half of what was being taught in this course… I would be one happy accountant!
Just imagine the time and heartache you would save by understanding the how and why of accounting and taxes. There is no way to guess how much you would save by having everything ready to take to your accountant at the end of the year.
As far as I can see, there is no downside to this program. Oh, and yes, my high school girls will be completing this course for credit.
So are you ready to start learning? You can view a sample lesson on their site as well as several free videos on various topics. Still not sure? Sign up for a 14 day free trial.
See? There is no reason to not go check them out and start learning all about words such as debits, credits, accrual, depreciation….
