The Nourish Essential Oil {Review}

The Nourish Essential Oil {Review}

The Nourish Essential Oil {Review}

Do you use essential oils? I don't, but more and more of my friends are singing their praises. So when Tricia with TheNourish.com offered to send me a sample and information, I jumped in with both feet to see what all the fuss is!

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. If you have ever enjoyed the gift of a rose, a walk by a field of lavender, or the smell of fresh cut mint, you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease and play a role in plant pollination.

In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people, essential oils have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Modern scientific study and trends toward more holistic approaches to wellness are driving a revival and new discovery of essential oil health applications.

Okay, I started researching and reviewing the information I received from TheNourish.com and found myself intrigued, and interested in learning more. The first thing I did was check out the website and started reading several of her articles which include health for the body, mind, and spirit.

They offer free webinars that are a great introduction to oils and how to use them at home.

Personally, I loved the mix of personal insight, that “window” into another person's life even if just for a moment, and the education and information about oils, relaxing, and taking care of yourself. After all, how can you take care of your family if you're not caring for yourself first?

I quickly devoured her recipes and the gorgeous pictures that went along with them, especially the DIY items like bath salts, body scrubs, and healthy meals!

Finally, I focused more on the essential oil part of her website, keeping the book she sent to me, Modern Essentials: A contemporary guide to the therapeutic use of essential oils, on hand. TheNourish.com does promote the dōTERRA product line of essential oils, and I've used a few of their other products in the past so I'm familiar with the company itself. They offer single oils, blends of two or more, as well as other specialized products for your home and life style.

Using the samples of oils I was sent to try, I researched and used them for a few days to see if they “worked” for me. Here are my thoughts.

  • Wild Orange: Listed for uplifting mood and energizing; used on the backs of my hands while I worked
  • Melaleuca: Known as “tea tree”, for cleansing and regenerative properties; already a favorite of mine, works great and cuts and scratches
  • Breathe: Helps clear and soothe respiratory passages; great rubbed onto your feet and covered with socks!
  • Balance: Helps relieve anxiety; very comforting scent, loved to dot it on the inside of my wrists
  • On-Guard: Supports healthy immune system; the book included a great recipe for foaming hand soap to keep at home!
  • Terra-Shield: Natural bug repellent; great to apply before we went outside and also can be used around doors and windows to keep crawly critters away

Overall, I am pleased with the results I achieved. Given a longer length of time, I would like to see if they present solid benefits before I make the switch from modern day medicines/products.

As far as for TheNourish.com, I will definitely keep going back for reference materials, to order more oils, and to find out her latest story or recipe! You can also visit the Facebook group and learn more on Pinterest and Twitter.

    I’ve heard a lot of good things about oils, and I’ve “dabbled” with them over the years. I’d be interested in trying more of them, and The Nourish website has some great information available as well!

    I’ve just started dabbling with essential oils this year, but I’m still not convinced. I just haven’t seen enough benefits for me. I know you said about you’d like to see results after a longer length of time, so if you keep using them and notice some amazing results, you’ll have to share!
