Using Grokker to Be a Better You {Review}
Winter is setting in around the country, and I’d be willing to bet most of us find ourselves staying indoors more often, right? This can take a toll on us, both physically and mentally, but what can we do (except be outside and freeze)! This is why I want to tell my readers about using Grokker to be a better you, with thousands of expert videos covering yoga, fitness and cooking all in one place!
In Robert A. Heinlein’s iconic novel Stranger in a Strange Land, to Grok “means to understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes a part of the observed,” to say you are a Grokker is to claim that you have been transformed. That’s what we’re all about at Grokker; transformation through connection. We are here to connect YOU (the passionate enthusiast) with expert video and our active community.
In short, Grokker helps you get better at what you love.
I admit that I was skeptical that this would be just another subscription website filled with a bunch of videos that I wouldn’t be able to do at home, on my own. Or filled with a bunch of big, bulky gym-goers that I can never dream of keeping up with.
But I was wrong.
I found the registration process super simple and in a matter of minutes, I was completing my profile and finding videos to watch. I started with a few cooking videos and learned how to make an awesome 5 cheese macaroni prepared by David Lawrence (owner and executive chef at 1300) and my new favorite, a baked “fried” chicken by Doc Ward!
Then I switched over to yoga (full disclosure: I’ve only done yoga on the Wii) to check it out. My first thought was “oh my!” because there are so many classes and instructors to choose from…but, I found the filter feature and was able to narrow down my results. Plus, as I told Grokker what I liked and what I didn’t, the suggestions got better for my profile. There seems to be videos for every level, whether you want to sit in your chair and work on your breathing, get your kids involved, or stand on your head (just kidding). It’s not just for beginners!
Last but not least was the fitness videos. Abs & core, warm-up, bootcamps, dance, strength and more are all available in one place. Just like with the yoga and cooking, it’s not just one instructor or one type of work out. You may not like one method so find another video and give it a shot. There’s no reason you won’t find something that works for you with all of the options available.
Here are some of the features that I personally enjoy about Grokker:
- Choice of videos in cooking, yoga and fitness right at my fingertips
- Easy registration process
- Forums & sense of community where you can ask questions and get advice
