What Holds You Back
This book is based on the belief that too many people are failing to live up to their full potential. Being limited by their bad habits and past hang-ups or mistakes that they haven’t let go of and moved past.
According to the author, we limit ourselves when we hold on to things that are continually hurting us such as unforgiveness, addictive behavior, and unhealthy financial patterns. In order to break free of these limitations, we need to begin with a relationship with Christ.
Author John Siebeling helps readers connect the dots between what they read in God’s Word and their everyday lives.
Jesus died on the cross to set us free and enable us to experience life to the full; anything less than that is not God’s best. If we are followers of Christ, freedom is not just a benefit to embrace if we choose; it’s a responsibility we are called to.
Each of the 10 chapters has a focus on one of the most common hang-up or habit. There is a section that digs into the Word and the passage covers what God says about it. There is also practical tips and suggestions for how to move forward and start implementing the changes needed to overcome the hang-up or habit.
While I may not agree with all of the positions of the author, there were several points that I have personally learned the hard way myself.
Everything starts with a relationship with Christ. Without this personal relationship, there is no hope. Once you have accepted Christ and put Him on in Baptism your heart is the first area that needs to start the change.
Before we can accept the freedom and grace of Christ, we have to have a pure heart. In order to have the ability to obey God’s commands, and live by His directions, including the ability to carry out His purpose for our lives…we have to know Him.
Do you know Christ? Have you accepted Him as your Savior? If you haven’t, please seek out a bible believing – bible teaching congregation and start studying the Word. If you would like a self study course, just let me know and I will send one to you.
Acts 2:38 reads: Change your life. Turn to God and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, so your sins are forgiven.
If this book sounds like something you need, like that friend of mine giving me a kick in the pants, Moving Forward by John Siebeling is available on Amazon in both Kindle and Paperback version. Grab a copy for yourself and Let Go of What Holds You Back and Fulfill Your Purpose!
Don’t have a Kindle? Grab one for yourself. They are so nice to use for reading. I love my Kindle Fire and my little one uses the e-Reader version (just for reading without the added games and internet options).
