Whatever Wanda {Book Review}
Bad attitudes – we all have them. Of course I see it in my children and others a whole lot sooner than in myself, but we all have to deal with having an attitude that is less than perfect. What does it take to change your or your children’s attitude? Do you have to coax or drag a change out of them? Since we know that life is just more enjoyable when we have a sweet attitude, this is one character area that I try to stay on top with with our children (and myself). And that’s the point of the book, Whatever Wanda by Christy Ziglar.
The third title in the Shine Bright Kids series, Whatever Wanda! teaches children the importance of having a good attitude.
Wanda is in serious need of an attitude adjustment! She doesn’t want to accompany her family to the Rubber Duck Days Festival, and once there, she won’t participate in any of the events or join in with her friends. Soon Wanda receives some helpful advice and learns that:
‘Sometimes you have to believe something will be great before it actually is. Being positive is a choice that makes everything better, not to mention, a whole lot more fun!’
About Shine Bright Kids:
Choose Right. Shine Bright. The Shine Bright Kids series provides children and their families with the tools to teach the importance of making good choices. The series explores such topics as: using good judgment, taking responsibility, having a positive attitude, and demonstrating perseverance. Ages 4 to 8.
My children often behave just like Wanda. They are professional eye rollers, hands on hips with glaring eyes at least once a week. Girl drama is what my husband calls it.
And girl drama can get hard to deal with on an ongoing basis. Even though this book is directed at younger children, our teen girls “got the point” while reading the book to the little ones. I loved listening in to the older girls talking to the younger ones about being nice and not having a bad attitude.
The book is illustrated beautifully and is full of bright colors! And it teaches readers the importance of a good attitude and being able to have a second chance. I’d recommend this book for any parent and family with young children, and it would be great to cover in Sunday school too!

This sounds like a great book. Bad attitudes are contagious! I wish there were more that look at the bright side
