Wright Patterson AFB Case Sale
OH MY GOODNESS…… The madness at the case sale was at an all time high! I just don’t understand the lack of organization within such a large event. However, according to the regular customers that travel to all the case sales within 100 miles…this one wasn’t that bad! hmmmmm….. maybe we will try the Army case sale when it comes around.
As far as this one went… there were a ton of items. Great prices…really rude people! Knock you down type of people to grab a case of toilet paper! LOL…. Didn’t expect that at Wright Patterson. This has been the best ran, most efficient base that we have ever been attached to in my life. Today was a nightmare for shoppers in my opinion.
The sale itself took us less than 40 minutes to get through…maybe because we were within the first 12 people in the gate and didn’t have to wait an hour to get a cart. Notes to self: Grab a cart before going to get in line, bring bottled water and something to sit on while waiting in line (both at start of sale and while waiting to check out).
Once we were in line…not done with shopping but thinking we were out of room in van… we found ourselves faced with a TWO HOUR LINE to check out! NO JOKE!!!! Outside in a parking lot winding our way through rows built with boxed goods and pallets. We had a good time joking and being silly for a while… entertained the surrounding folks with our enjoyment of the oldies music on the radio blasting at LOUD….
The checkout was the problem at this location. Thousands of people and three registers! Yes… only 3 registers. I overheard one of the workers make the statement that this wasn’t too bad a line today but that they were glad they didn’t have to work Saturday with these registers. hmmmm… again… poor planning on the Commissary leadership.
So, if you don’t mind standing in the heat and now rain I believe at Wright Patterson AFB, their case sale is worth the trip. Thankfully most of the mothers left their children elsewhere…. I am so thankful we did not bring the little one. I would have had an eye twitch before getting in the gate.
Our totals were great considering we didn’t have to fool with coupons. There were vendors walking around handing you coupons if you had their products in your cart. BONUS!!! Now, you can use coupons at the base. We opted to only purchase the items that we could not purchase locally for the same price with coupons. This made our list manageable.
Totals were:
Retail $ 1350.00
Savings: $789.00
Total Spent: $ 561.00 for a 58% savings. Not a bad day considering everything. I did get to spend hours with two of my adult married girls which was so sweet and fun. We don’t often spend time without spouses and children. We stopped for a wonderful lunch at Ruby Tuesdays with a gift card I found while cleaning my desk yesterday LOL another BONUS!
I am glad we stopped shopping when we did as there wasn’t much room left in the van. The rear seats were folded down and the center two seats removed to allow for as much space as possible. My pantry is stocked with great items and I will not have to shop for several things for close to a year!
The best part of the day, other than spending my with my girls…. was that I didn’t have to worry about coupons and only being able to purchase 4 like items in any one transaction. Picking up items by the case was SWEET!!! Wondering about the next sale and how best to approach the day.
