Marriage Badges

I was discussing this with my friend earlier, but I think marriage should come with merit badges. Kind of like scouts. I mean, it’s hard – there is no hiding it. (Or a gun safety course – oh wait, I didn’t get one. Sad face.)

Marriage is hard work, but the rewards are so sweet.

Just think – first holiday with the new in-laws CHECK! Here’s a badge.

Bought a house – CHECK! Here’s a badge.

Planned and executed a successful vacation (successful meaning neither of you attempted to lose one or the other while on the vacation) – CHECK! Here’s a badge.

Granted all of these are big badges. Badges that show major accomplishments, but what about the smaller things like grocery shopping and walking the dog? I think that we should also get them for things like chores.

I mean, how much cooler would it be to get rewards for successfully navigating the sticky waters that living with another human can bring?
