We always have good tires on our cars to make sure we can drive in bad weather. Although we don’t get much snow in our area, we still pack cold-weather kits. These include a glass scraper, travel shovel, blankets, extra gloves, snacks, and warm clothes.

This is such a great and useful prize! I would say that it is so important to have roadside service (I have AAA) because things happen all the time and you don’t want to be stranded too long. I would also say a very bright flashlight/lantern, as well as a blanket are very useful in case you get stuck and need to flag down someone or a AAA truck!

Keeping your car in good shape is the best practice. Check the tires (change if you need snow tires), make sure all your oil, anti-freeze, wiper fluids and all are in order. Make sure you have a good scraper and some salt for emergencies.

My first winter tip is to warm up the car before putting the kids inside so they can be warm and buckled in safely (without coats). The other tip is to stay home if it snows. It rarely snows here, but when it does there are so many accidents because no one is prepared or knows how to drive on icy roads.

I always take my car into the local garage and get the antifreeze and washer fluid checked. As well as make sure my tires are in good shape.

I like to keep a bag of sand or kitty litter in the trunk, it weighs down the back for traction, it also can be used for grit to sprinkle around the tires if you get stuck.

Clean ALL the snow off of your car before driving because it is extremely dangerous to the cars behind you.

Well, I don’t drive and do not have a vehicle but I know that all of my sons keep an emergency kit in their cars. Most have a blanket, water bottles, non-perishable snacks, flares, a flashlight and extra batteries, etc.

I always carry a shovel in my trunk during the winter. You never know when you might get stuck and need to dig your tires out or throw some dirt under them.

I think a couple of great winter tips for the vehicle are 1) having a warm blanket in case of emergencies. And 2) making sure you have at least a half tank of gas at all times. I try to fill my tank when it gets to half in the winter.
