Almay Makeup {Review}
My girls love to try new shades and kinds of makeup, whether they are just running errands, going to the mall, or heading out for a night on the town. I do too, but I also realize the importance of a budget and needing quality products that work for more than a single use. So we’ve been testing Almay® Makeup.
innovating beauty since 1931, almay is a leader in developing award-winning cosmetics that not only enhance a woman’s natural beauty but also are good for her skin. powered by american ingenuity and science, almay is a brand of firsts: the first hypoallergenic cosmetics brand and the first brand to make 100% fragrance-free products. we are also the first brand to perform safety testing for allergy and irritation to ensure that almay products feature pure, gentle and non-irritating ingredients that work for all complexions. these innovations continue today with the launch of smart shade™ makeup, which intuitively transforms to match your skintone, intense i-color™ shadows that last all day, and the ultra-hydrating smart shade butter kiss™ lipsticks.
almay products are all formulated in our labs in edison, new jersey- best known as the center of american invention (the home of thomas edison).
So no matter what kind of makeup you wear, whether a lot or a little, at the end of the day, we all need to take it off. Almay offers several nice products to help in this chore, including facial wipes, makeup eraser sticks, gentle eye makeup remover liquid, and even eye makeup remover pads. Let me tell you a little about each one that we’ve tried.
- Oil Free Makeup Remover Towelettes – These are great at the end of the day to remove everything, including waterproof mascara and lipstick! Plus it is hypoallergenic and 100% fragrance free for all those sensitive skin ladies out there. I use both sides usually and notice my face is refreshed and soft, which is great before I head to bed.
- Oil-Free Makeup Eraser Sticks – I thought these were odd looking at first, but I really like how I can fix a mistake without having to start completely over! It’s like using a cotton swab dabbed in makeup remover to wipe away or blot off a problem area, but without all the mess. Plus they come in a hard case so if I need to fix something while I’m out of the house, I can keep these handy.
- Eye Makeup Remover Liquid – If you wear eye shadow, plus mascara and eye liner, especially the long wear kind, you know how hard it can be to get it all off when your day is done! But with a simple shake of the bottle and a cotton pad, you can easily wipe it all off and get on with your evening. It doesn’t irritate my eyes either.
- Eye Makeup Remover Pads – I keep these in my purse or weekend bag so I don’t have to carry the other bottle and cotton pads when I’m away from home. You swipe them over your eye lids and lashes and the stubborn makeup is history.
- Almay Intense i-COLOR Party Brights (125 trio for browns) – This is a fun collection of pink & purples that is as easy as 1-2-3. You apply the bottom color to the lid, the second to the crease and the third to highlight. It also happens to be the order of the shadows in the case, which is helpful when I’m in a hurry.
- Almay Intense i-COLOR Everyday Neutrals (110 trio for blues) – It’s the same 1-2-3 process as the others, but in more of a neutral range of colors. This is my go-to on my busy, hurry out the door mornings.
- Almay Intense i-COLOR Evening Smoky (155 trio for hazels) – Whether you’re going out with your husband or just want a more sophisticated look, this smoky palette will do the trick! I will say a little goes a long way, but this product also pairs well with a little liner and mascara to complete the look.
- Almay Liquid Eyeliner – This is perfect for ladies with a steady hand when it comes to eye liner. Their formula is smudge proof which is helpful for those long days (and nights) and comes in black, black/brown, and brown.
- Almay one coat Multi-Benefit Mascara – Another product that’s perfect for get ready quickly mornings. One coat of mascara and you’re ready to go! Plus it conditions, and gives definition without having to apply multiple coats or fake lashes when you’re in a hurry.
- Almay one coat Thickening Mascara – I love this mascara. One swipe and my lashes are thicker, nicely defined, and clump-free! This version isn’t waterproof but you can buy that formula instead if you prefer it.
- Almay Eyeliner – A classic eyeliner for sure without needing a sharpener (although there’s one built in to the bottom of the tube). You simply twist the barrel and apply your color and go!
- Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick – The shades on the far left and right are the light/medium shades of nude and berry. I like these because they aren’t bright shades and they go on very smoothly! It’s a bit of color without being overwhelming, which is perfect for most of my looks.
- Almay color + care liquid lip balm – I collect lip gloss colors and love this blooming balm color. It goes perfectly on it’s own for a hint of pink, or over top of stronger shades to tone them down a little. And it’s not sticky which I hate in a gloss.
- Almay Smart Shade Powder Blush – This is the “pink” shade and it works great with a quick swirl of a brush. I like the different shades of pink instead of only getting the same one each time.
- Almay Intense i-COLOR Shadow Softies (cashmere) – A lovely sweeping color that I use as a base usually, and sometimes by itself. I usually apply it with a fingertip for the easiest application and I love that it doesn’t crease on me.
This is just a small portion of the Almay makeup line. I have my favorites and can’t wait to see what they come out with next. You can learn more on the Almay website, and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest news!
