Find Things to Do with TripAdvisor
Whether looking for things to do while traveling or just something new near home, TripAdvisor makes it easy.
I travel with my family a lot. And while I am working, they are looking for things to do in the cities we visit. And while you can always find the “big things” that an area is known for, my crew likes to investigate things on a more local level.
That's where TripAdvisor comes in and helps us find things to do. The website is easy to use and honestly, we find things to do every where we go.
Just head over to TripAdvisor and click on “Things to do”
Then enter in the city or area you are looking for the top recommended things to do. For example, we were looking for things to do in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
Now you will see a list of things to do in your area broken down by type of activity. The top things to do are listed in ranking order based on the reviews of visitors.
Under this is a listing of Tours and Tickets you can purchase right through TripAdvisor all at a discounted price. So not only can you finds things to do, you can save on the admission pricing by using TripAdvisor.
Not sure what you are interested in doing? The list can be sorted by Popularity, Pricing, or Name; which are helpful if you are looking for a certain price range on admissions.
You can also sort by availability, which I found super helpful because several of the things I was interested in doing, were only offered on limited dates or times. By entering in the date, the system only returned the options that were going to fit my schedule.
Once you have found the activity you are interested in, click to see if it is available at the times that work with your schedule.
Once on the activity, you will be able to read all about the activity and any of the guidelines including age restrictions, physical limitation warnings (not all activities may be wheel chair accessible, but it is clearly stated if modifications to offer can be made), and the meeting place and time.
On this night out, we opted for a Walking Tour of Cincinnati.

Along the way, hear quirky and interesting bits of Cincinnati’s history, giving you plenty of insight into a city that perhaps you didn’t know as well as you thought you did. Finish up with a short but visually stimulating stroll through a contemporary art museum, rounding out this perfect evening of wine, food, friends, art, and architecture.
Note: Consuming of alcohol is limited to those over 21 and with valid photo identification. Other beverages are available for those under 21 or by choice.
As you can see, using Trip Advisor is easy and it saves you time along with money on things to do when you are traveling. Of course, being able to save money on local events doesn't hurt either!
My Review of the Walking Tour of Cincinnati:
Our evening started out by meeting Sherry at the Carew tower downtown. Parking was fairly simple, we parked right under the building in the garage. I do suggest using an Uber or other public transportation when traveling, especially if you are not familiar with the area.
After meeting Sherry, she guided us through the tower, providing us with fun filled facts about the architectural history.
Our first stop was the Palomino restaurant inside the Carew tower.
This was a fancy pizza place where you can watch the chef make any type of pizza your heart desires as well as watch the beautiful sights and lights of downtown fountain square.
Bonus: this is a family friendly place, as there were several kids watching the chef make their special pizza! We had a tomato & mozzarella pizza with both a sample of red & white wines. Deelliicciioousss!! 😍😍
Next we went to a neat little olive and wine bar where we sampled some more specialty wines.
We also had their dates with goat cheese (with chocolate yummy!) and bread with a variety of olive oil samples.
I couldn't help myself, I bought one of their bottles of wine that we sampled along with some mixed olive oils. Such a cute restaurant and shop!
After that, we went down the street to Prime restaurant. We had BBQ ribs along with some of the best calamari I've ever had!! (Not gonna lie, I could have licked the plate clean the calamari was so good!)
The wines were delicious, fresh and paired very nicely with our appetizers. All the while we had the pleasure of getting to know Sherry as she talked to us about the local history and folklore.
After we finished up at Prime, Sherry walked us to the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts center. There we were able to tour the place for free and see some very eclectic art pieces! (Great idea for a free date night!).
All in all it was a fantastic evening spent with a wonderful tour guide. We had delicious food and wine and learned some new facts about Cincinnati.

Sounds like a great app to use
Every year we take a 2 week vacation and it is an unspoken rule that I will research that place on Trip Advisor. I find places to eat, play, and visit. This year we even booked our condo through Trip Advisor. It really makes our travel much easier and relaxing.
Oddly, I have never looked at TA for my HOME town! I only use it for travel. That’s a great idea though to use it at home for new ideas!

I have used Trip Advisor many times and love seeing all the options in a place I’m visiting.

What I love is that you can go there and pick out whatever kind of event or adventure you want to do and they’ll tell you the best place to go, the best prices, the best ratings, you name it! And it’s ratings from us folks so you know it’s real!
