Manic Drive CD Review
Are you into Christian Rock? Or maybe your kids are? Then you have probably heard of Manic Drive, a group from Toronto, made up of 3 young men, 2 of whom are brothers. Here is a review of the latest Manic Drive CD that was just released, VIP!
The band consists of brothers Shawn Cavallo, who sings lead vocals and plays the keyboards, Michael Cavallo, who plays the lead guitar and offers backup vocals, as well as Anthony Moreino who mans the drums. They have released multiple CDs and have performed with some of today’s biggest Christian acts like Skillet, Superchick and Switchfoot. And VIP promised to deliver that awesome sound from this talented group of young men.
While their songs are not your traditional “church” or worship songs, the message is still meaningful and touching. Songs like “Song to Sing” where a believer is struggling and finds comfort and God through a traditional hymn which is sung in the chorus. Or “I Hide You Seek” reminding us that we can never hide from Jesus, no matter what. VIP does seem to be more about worship and our personal relationship with God than some of their previous albums, which were on the Christian party level of music.
All in all, this is a good CD to listen to, if you enjoy this genre of music or just want something different. I like having it in the car when we’re running errands because the whole family can listen to it, and the kids won’t roll their eyes! My teens love it and already knew who they were when I opened the CD!
Here is one of my favorite videos they have uploaded to YouTube. Let me know what you think!
About the Band:
Manic Drive has been widely known as a Canadian band who always delivers a great show, but over the past few years and project releases, they have added to their extensive touring of Canadian and US markets multiple Billboard Top 10 & 20 singles on CHR & Christian Rock Radio. Manic Drive is clearly very intentional about reaching their generation and inspiring them to pursue a deeper walk with Christ and to get involved in changing the world they are inheriting. And they are uniquely equipped to do so. The band members, all in their early-mid twenties, have made sacrifices to pursue God’s call on their lives. Their life experience, spiritual maturity and ministry have opened doors to speak into the lives of their own generation and that is perhaps the most defining characteristic of this group of guys.

I am really impressed with their music and what a great message. In this “selfie” generation, it’s nice to see people concerned about what is on the inside and other people not just themselves.
