Meet A Friend Friday 4.26.13

April 26, 2013 SimplySherryl 2 Comments

I am so pleased to be able to introduce you to couple of great fellow bloggers from The Organic Times!   Please welcome Tamara and Vincent from The Organic Times to Simply Sherryl!  They have answered my questions, but if you are curious about more, leave your questions below and I'm sure one of them will come by and answer them too!

1. Tell us a little bit about your blog:

The Organic Times Blog highlights news, research & inspirational stories in healthy & sustainable living.

2. How long have you been blogging and what do you love about it?

My husband and I have been blogging for almost 1 year. We're both passionate about health & sustainability but approach the topics from different angles.  We have enjoyed sharing our vastly different approach to the same important “green” topics with friends, family & our blog readers.

3. Who is the person or group behind the blog?

Vincent sees The Organic Times as a way to help others learn more about and enjoy the benefits of a healthy and more sustainable lifestyle. Vincent earned a bachelors degree in biology from his home state of Missouri, his Masters in Environmental Science from Oregon State University, and his Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He now teaches at Southern Oregon University and conducts research on coupled human-natural systems.

Tamara sees The Organic Times as an extension of her interest in healthy living, family, and community. Tamara has a Bachelors degree in recreation and youth leadership from Brigham Young University and owns and additionally operates a Silent Springs, Natural Living Community & a youth fitness business, Growing Time, in the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon.

4. What hobbies/interests do you have?

When not teaching or writing, Vincent enjoys spending time with family, gardening, and just being outdoors.

When not supporting two family businesses, and caring for three great children, Tamara enjoys swimming, exercise, and family adventures to the many natural wonders of Southern Oregon.

5. What is your favorite topic to write about?

I don't think either of us have a SINGLE favorite topic. We love writing about Food, Health, Alternative Energy, Social Change, Natural Resources, Gardening, and Natural Parenting. Additionally we have started a Green Guide which we are populating with DIY guides for healthy & sustainable living.

6. What advice would you give to new bloggers?

My advice to new bloggers would be- get help!  A blog is a lot of work to manage on your own. If you can find a few friends to go at it with you when the inevitable life challenges arise, your blog will not fail.

7. Do you use a blogging planner and if so, which one? Why?

I do use a blog schedule. It helps me see at a glance what we have written about, and what we could still use articles on.

8. Three of my favorite blogs to visit are:

Grist
Nature's Nurture
Environment .National Geographic

9. Three of my favorite posts on my blog are:

Green Birthday Party Ideas

World Environment Day: Meal Plans to help you #ThinkEatSave

Viral Environmentalism: Day 1

10. Anything else you would like for the readers to know about you or your blog?

We are always looking for bloggers who are knowledgeable in various “green”  or healthy living topics that would like to share their knowledge with our reader. Contact me at Tamara@silentsprings.com if you're interested in becoming a Guest Blogger for The Organic Times.
