Microwave Lava Cake

Microwave Lava Cake

Microwave Lava Cake

This is one of my new all time favorite cakes!

Perfect for a quick dessert or for a fancy impressive meal..or anytime you need a chocolate fix! It truly doesn't get any better than this for a quick treat. As you can see from the image, my son in law didn't even wait to flip it on a platter. Boys… of course the next image should be where he is running around because the LAVA chocolate has attached itself to his tongue. Again.. boys…

Ingredients:
1 box cake mix (your choice of mix) – plus items needed per directions on box
1 can ready to serve frosting

Directions:
~ Prepare cake batter according to package directions – place in large/deep glass bowl or baking dish
~ Dump frosting by spoonfuls into batter
~ Microwave for nine (9) minutes on high

That's it! Please use hot pads when removing from microwave as bowl/dish will be screaming hot!

I pinned this gooey death-by-chocolate recipe. This recipe looks really rich. Plus it is easy to make & it definitely looks like one of those “ways to the man’s stomach” recipes – he really is enjoying it. So will my grandkids & I the next time they stay over!

Oh, this cake is amazing! And you can use any flavor combo you love. If you are using the frosting for german chocolate I would suggest also dropping in a plain chocolate frosting as the german choc one is really thick and doesn’t melt as well as regular tubs of frosting.

Yes! You can use any plain cake mix and a can of frosting. I haven’t tried angel food yet…will have to try that one and see. Tonight we are making a lemon cake with cream cheese frosting..

I know I know.. I had the RNY and have used the sugar free cake mix for this.. for the frosting, try the lower sugar cans or don’t use the frosting and make a lemon, poppy seed with splenda drizzle to pour over the cake. That would cut the calories a ton.

Now that sounds like even I could make it!! It looks really really tempting!! Hum–wonder if using an Angel food mix with no sugar frosting would work–probably would not taste as good–but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!

I haven’t tried angel food but plan on it later this week. I did put pineapple chunks in the mix with a lemon cake and cream cheese frosting. Look up my 321 Mug cake for a lower calorie using angel food cake mix.. that is a wonderful by the cup cake that you can top with anything.
