321 Mug Cake

321 Mug Cake

321 Mug Cake

Sometimes when you want a piece of cake, you don't want to make a whole cake, right? Here is how I solve that problem with my 321 Mug Cake. Come see what I mean!

 321 Cake in a mug

Ingredients:

  • 1 box Angel Food cake mix
  • 1 box ANY flavor cake mix

Directions:

Combine two boxes of cake mix in large bowl (you can use ANY flavor of cake mix but the other one must always be Angel Food mix).

Stir until combined together

Store in a large bowl/baggie or divide into smaller air tight jars and print directions on label. Combine with a cute coffee mug and you have a simple but personal gift.

321 Cake in a mug

To Prepare:

Place 3 Tablespoons cake mixture in a microwave safe container (coffee mugs work perfectly)
Mix in 2 Tablespoons of water
Microwave on high for 1 minute

321 Mug Cake

Variations and Notes:

~ Top with a dollop of fruit or whipped topping!
~ Try various flavors of cake mix but it must always be combined with an Angel Food mix.
~ Keep the mix tightly sealed in an airtight container until used
~ Try mixing it with milk instead of water for a richer flavor
~ Drop in a few chips in your favor flavor (chocolate, vanilla, butterscotch)

**  The mug used in this article is a MUG as opposed to what I call my grandmother's coffee/tea cup! Therefore, I doubled the amounts used. I mean, if you are going to a chocolate snack…why not have enough to share?  It did not change the cooking time.

This cake is called 3-2-1 because you need 3 Tablespoons of mix, 2 Tablespoons of water and 1 minute in the microwave!

When you get that craving for something, but not quite sure what you want, make a cake in a cup! I think it would be great to add some chocolate chips to the chocolate cake! This is such a versatile recipe! As long as one cake mix is Angel Food, skies the limit! Thanks so very much for sharing this wonderful 321 Mug Cake with all of us! I honestly do appreciate it! You don’t have to use an angel food cake mix. You can just pick any one cake mix you like and it does the same thing. The only reason they have you use an angel food cake is to cut down on the calories.

I am guessing the purpose of the angel food cake mix is to eliminate the need to add an egg which many of the other “mug cake” recipes include. Without the egg (or Angel Food mix), the cake will be denser and less “cakey”.
