5 Tips for Applying Makeup
Over the years I have worn varying levels of makeup based on the season of life. When the babies were small and life was super crazy, I was happy to apply mascara and lip gloss before calling it done. Other seasons I have had to apply full coverage for work or important events. Thankfully over the years I have also picked up a few tips and tricks that have helped save time and money.
Clean and Moisturize
Always start with a clean and moisturized face. This will really help the final look. Take the time to find the cleanser and moisturizer that matches your skin type and use it religiously.
Conceal Blemishes
Concealing blemishes can be tough. There are several products available based on skin type and coloring. Allow time for the concealer to dry before applying foundation over it. You may have to try a few different products to find exactly what works with your skin and what type of foundation you’re using over it.
Apply Foundation
Using a brush to apply foundation will help achieve the polished look at you usually only see at salons. The SonicBlend Makeup Brush makes applying foundation so easy. I like that you can use less product and still get the coverage desired. Plus you can use either liquid or powder foundation and it has several speeds to choose from.
Brighten Eyes
A neat trick to brighten eyes and help eye shadow cling better is to apply a light or white blemish cover to your eye lids. The blemish cover will help your shadow last longer.
Another neat tip for eye lashes is to add a couple of drops of saline solution (or Visine®) to your bottle of mascara. It will stop the mascara from flaking or clumping when applying.
Define Lips
Defining your lips with a pencil before applying lip color will help both in making sure your color is applied evenly and it will stop the color from bleeding or pulling onto your skin around the lips.
Another lip color tip is to apply a darker base coat topped with a lighter gloss for a custom look.
