A Warrior's Faith {Book Review}
Can you imagine losing your sight? I can't even fathom how utterly life-changing this would be for not only myself but my friends and family. The book, A Warrior's Faith, by Robert Vera, is the story of Navy Seal Ryan Job, who loses his eyesight while on the job but doesn't let it hold him back from life.
An exhilarating story of a young Navy SEAL whose relentless faith transformed his life and inspired everyone who knew his courageous story.
In “A Warrior's Faith,” Ryan Job's close friend, Robert Vera, recounts how the highly decorated Navy SEAL's unstoppable sense of humor, positive attitude, and fierce determination helped him survive after being shot in the face by an enemy sniper on a roof in Ramadi, Iraq.
Though blinded, the irrepressible Job recovered from his wounds and began facing a new set of obstacles with his characteristic humor and resolve. He married the girl of his dreams, hunted elk, climbed Mt. Rainier, graduated college with honors, influenced countless people around him, and was looking forward to being a father–before his life was tragically cut short by a hospital medical error.
Vera's raw, often funny, and heartfelt account of his friend's life offers readers a way to find hope in the middle of life's raging storms.
I would say most Americans are familiar with the tale of Chris Kyle; the subject of this book, Ryan Job, was involved with Chris on the battlefield and brothers in arms. This book is written about the details of the firefight where Ryan was injured and then how events unfolded as he was evacuated and began his path after losing his sight.
While most people may have given up, or at least set lower expectations for themselves, Ryan goes on to accomplish wonderful things like getting married, planning for a family, climbing mountains and so much more! Countless people don't do some of these things with their eyesight in tact, much less after going blind!
This wonderful and inspirational book would make a great read for anyone that enjoys personal stories, tales of overcoming hardships, or wanting to see faith being lived and not just spoken about. Be sure to pick up your copy of A Warrior's Faith at your local Family Christian store!
