Blog Forward 2014 Challenge #3 by ZonePerfect
Back in January I accepted the ZonePerfect 2014 Blog Forward Challenge. In this challenge, we were to share our fitness goals and progress on those goals throughout the year.
In January, I chose the following goals:
- Increase physical activity by using our Gazelle at least five days a week.
- Avoid snacking by planning my day so that I am not out on the run needing something to eat.
- Plan our meals to not only save money on groceries but to improve our nutritional intake each day.
In May, I shared my progress on these goals:
- Increase physical activity by using our Gazelle at least five days a week. —- Still not on it five days a week but I am walking laps around the main level of the house a couple of times a day.
- Avoid snacking by planning my day so that I am not out on the run needing something to eat. —— I have been able to stay on track with this by keeping a nice supply of nuts, protein bars and dried fruit in my go bag.
- Plan our meals to not only save money on groceries but to improve our nutritional intake each day. —— By planning our meals on a weekly basis I have been able to save money and time which will hopefully allow for more time to work on the other goals.
And now that it is the end of August, time to update again..and maybe get myself back in gear!
- Increase physical activity by using our Gazelle at least five days a week. —- Yeah, still not on it five days a week but I am getting better.
- Avoid snacking by planning my day so that I am not out on the run needing something to eat. —— Umm, now that we are back in school I should be able to get back on track. My plan is to keep a supply of nuts, protein bars and dried fruit in my go bag.
- Plan our meals to not only save money on groceries but to improve our nutritional intake each day. —— Yeah.. this one needs to get back on track too. We stay on the go during the summer and often just grab a quick meal. Now that we are home more, meal planning will be bumped up on my priority list.
My plan for the last quarter of 2014:
- Get back on track with more movement, better snack choices and a family meal plan. I want to finish the year a little healthier than I started and hopefully start habits that will continue on for many years.
Being in this challenge has helped me think more about the choices I make..not saying that I always make the best choice. I do find that having my ZonePerfect bars with me while running errands are a great help to keep me from pulling through the first fast food place on the street.
Not only am I making better snack choices; the girls are grabbing a piece of fruit or a ZonePerfect bar instead of the normal salty snacks we all love to eat. We recently discovered that we love the Kidz ZonePerfect Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip bars and the Caramel Crunch bars!
I think my favorite is still the Greek Yogurt Raspberry bar. Perfect for breakfast or as a midafternoon pick me up.

Seriously, my favorite are the yogurt “flavors”.
Good luck with your goals, you know we support you and would probably even do it with you if we talk about it!

I need to get back on target too! Summer was for lazy fun days, but with school back in session and my hectic work schedule, I definitely need to be prepared (and also remember to take time for myself – so I can work out!)
