Christmas Tree Ornament Light Controller {Review}
Christmas is one of my favorite holidays and I while I love the smell of a real Christmas Tree, I do not care for the mess of the needles all over the floor. Add to this that our pets are fascinated with the lights and low hanging ornaments..and yeah..we have a fake tree!
Our crew puts up the decorations the day after Thanksgiving, which is another reason for using a fake tree. We all enjoy decorating the tree, sitting back with the family drinking hot chocolate and just admiring the lights and ornaments. The one thing that drives me crazy is getting on the floor on my hands and knees and crawling under the tree every day and night to plug or unplug the Christmas lights.
This Christmas I had the opportunity to try the Christmas Tree Ornament for On/Off Light Control from 1800Doorbell and I was so excited to give it a try. The device is a really simple yet elegant looking Christmas Tree ornament. It can control up to 1,200 miniature lights or 600 watts and it is for indoor use only. You hang it on your tree and plug your lights into the other end of the wire that comes with the ornament. All you do next is touch the ornament to turn the lights on and off.
Once the device was installed, it was so easy to turn the lights on and off. Just a gentle touch on the ornament, the lights came on. When I touched it again, the lights turned off. My lower back and I both loved it!
It’s also great if you have kids, because they will love being able to turn the Christmas tree lights on and off all by themselves. Note here to parents on younger ones..Unless you want the lights ………yeah going on and off and on and off…ALL DAY LONG; hang the ornament above the reach level!
The only concern I had with the device was that it gets pretty warm to the touch. It never got overly hot, but it did get warmer than I expected.
Recommendations? Yes I liked the unit and will be using it again next year. However, because of my concern over it getting warm, I will be using multiple units to reduce the demand on them. Our tree has a TON of lights and I bet this was a factor in the heating up of the device. The best thing about the device is…that I don’t have to get on the floor and crawl around the gifts and branches under the Christmas tree trying to plug the lights in anymore!

I am sooooo tired of having to reach behind the tree to unplug the lights – this is on the list for next year’s tree!
