Delicious Gluten-Free Cookies from Nana’s
So many people these days are eating gluten-free, whether it’s because of an allergy or just a healthier lifestyle choice. While we don’t eat gluten-free in my house, we do try to make better choices. Not always the best choice, but better than the alternative. Desserts are a staple here, with several generations that come and go by the kitchen table on a daily basis! How do I keep treats in the house without feeling guilty about the sugar and chemicals in them? And what can I keep in the pantry when I do have guests that are gluten-free drop by to visit? Well, let me tell you about the delicious gluten-free cookies from Nana’s!
It all began in 1992 when Miriam “Nana” Diamond was inspired to create a moist and chewy cookie that not only tasted delicious, but was baked with ingredients she enjoyed giving to her friends and family; a cookie sweetened with natural fruit juice, rather than refined sugars, that was packed with flavor.
After receiving rave reviews from friends and family she started her own cookie company. And after months of mixing, baking and tasting, she perfected four cookie flavors worthy of the Nana’s Cookie Company name. Miriam took her 20 years of natural foods experience, loaded up her car and began selling and delivering the delicious cookie to local stores. Almost two decades later, Nana’s Cookie Company’s delicious cookies, cookie bites and cookie bars can be found in hundreds of stores across the country. Classic original flavors include Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin and Peanut Butter. Nana’s also bakes a line of Gluten Free cookies, which come in delectable flavors including Lemon, Fudge, Ginger and more. Our Gluten Free cookies are free of ingredients that cause many food allergies. These include corn, soy, dairy, eggs, casein and wheat.
Each fresh-baked cookie that gets wrapped up and distributed throughout the country still holds true to Miriam “Nana” Diamond’s original goal, when she was in her home baking cookies for her friends and family – that cookies can, and should, taste delicious through quality ingredients.
You will never leave my house hungry; I blame this on my Southern upbringing! Whether I know I will have adult children stopping by after classes, grandchildren coming to spend the afternoon with me, or guests that show up unannounced, I do my best to have food and drinks, including snacks, on hand! For a lot of these visits, keeping little things in the pantry like cookies, crackers, or biscuits are an easy way to set out a small bite to eat while we visit around the table or play in the back yard with the dog. But at the same time, I also want to be mindful everyone who blesses my table isn’t getting a bunch of unnecessary fat, sugar, and chemicals with their treats!
And there are times when I will have visitors stop by that are eating gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, or trying to eat all natural only products. Sure, I can stock up on two times the amount of treats and keep some for one group and some for the other, but honestly I don’t have the space or energy! Plus, some of those “healthier” products can really taste awful and you end up throwing them out anyway.

Nana’s has a line of 5 types of gluten-free cookies:
Each of these cookies are delicious and guilt free! All of them are gluten-free, but they are also dairy-free, egg-free, vegan, kosher, made with non-GMO ingredients, preservative free, and contain no synthetic sugars, hydrogenated oil, or artificial flavoring. That means almost anyone can enjoy these cookies with me! Personally, I love that they are made without the preservatives and artificial flavorings. I know that by choosing one of these cookies from Nana’s, I am making a better choice for myself, and for my friends and family.
Which is my favorite you might ask? Funny enough, I have been doing taste tests with visitors that come through my home. And no one seems to pick the same ones, isn’t that funny? One thing we all agree on? Heating them in the microwave for just a few seconds makes them even better. It’s like they melt in your mouth.

I love so many different kinds of cookies but I must say when I was a few years younger, still raising my children, we had a sweet elderly neighbor who often had bake sales, raising money for her church. She would have a variety of goodies, but the one thing I always looked for was her pineapple cookies!! They were amazing! She has since passed on so I have had to search for a recipe near to hers.
