Diatomaceous Earth {Review}
With all of the chemicals on the market these days, it is time to think outside the box, for our everyday problems. Diatomaceous Earth, or DE is one of those things. Specifically, we’re talking about Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth with Calcium Bentonite from Abundant Living.
If you’ve never heard of Diatomaceous Earth, you may be surprised to find out exactly what it is, and what it can do for you. Once you start using it, you’ll appreciate your new found love for this unique substance.
Diatomaceous Earth is a hard-shelled algae, which is known as a diatome. Diatomes that were around a long time ago, left exoskeletons which then fossilized. These have been mined and then crushed into a very fine powder. This powder is what makes up Diatomaceous Earth.
Abundant Living’s Diatomaceous Earth is food grade and is recognized as GRAS or generally regarded as safe. It is certified in the manufacturing plant as Organic by the Organic Materials Review Institute. You’ll also notice that their DE includes Calcium Bentonite. The mine where this DE is found is in British Columbia, Canada. It is located in an area where volcanoes were once active. This land form has resulted in a blend of naturally occurring DE with Calcium Bentonite, a bonus!
Now that we’ve got some of the scientific explanations out of the way, let’s find out how DE can help you. It is great for killing bugs. On a microscopic level, it is very sharp. When bugs come into contact with DE, it gets under their exoskeletons, slices them up and dehydrates them. That means in order for DE to rid you of pesky insects, they must come into contact with it. This makes a great product to have for garden pests or stopping ants in their tracks from entering your home. You simply create a line of DE in the path of the ants. Protect your prized roses, other flowers and vegetable plants by mixing a bit with water and spraying the leaves with DE.
It’s also equally as great for absorbing nasty odors from the little box, or soaking up spills and unwanted liquids on your indoor and outdoor upholstery. Think bed wetting, unwanted drink spills in the car, and for tougher jobs like oils spills in the driveway. These are just a few of the many uses of Diatomaceous Earth. Once your replace your chemical laden products with this natural resource you won’t go back.

Today I have another bad stomach ache. I have treated it by rubbing some doTerra DigestZen on the area that is hurting. I also made a cup of Cinnamon tea with Manuka honey. So far, neither has helped cut the pain.

My husband and I are eating healthy and DE kowers blood pressure and cholesterol! It is made up of mostly silica which is crucial for the production of collagen which improves skin tone and the health of your joints and tendons – not to mention gorgeous hair and nails! I have been adding it to smoothies which I drink several times a week. I am really interested to see my next cholesterol test and see if my bad cholesterol has dropped.

I was just sick with the flu, or so I thought, but it lasted only 1 terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. I treated it with something to soothe my awful stomach pain, went to bed and prayed for the Lord to help me get through it or take it away. I never want to go through that again.
