DIY Planter Make Over
My husband grows “chickens”! He loves those little plants and takes care of them despite the fact that no one else in the house likes them. Hmm.. maybe that is why he keeps them around??? Anyway, these little plants can not be killed. Each spring they come back with a vengeance!
We recently had our house painted and the chicken pot just didn’t match the new color scheme (read as I was really hoping I had found a way to get rid of these little buggers)… so I opted to try to paint the planter. As you can see, this planter is well, old and nasty.
After giving the outside of the planter a good cleaning with a brush, it was painted with the leftover trim paint from our house. It was painted..then painted again…and again…and yet again for the fourth time! No judging – yes I did paint the planter with the chickens still inside!
The kids combined another pot of chickens with this one, resulting in a nice display piece for the front porch. I have to admit, because of the placement on the porch – it is a good thing that these buggers don’t require much care. Once a week a cup of ice cubes are dumped on them and they thrive!
Anyone interested in some chickens?

How funny! Are those hen and chicks? I think those are neat. I need some impossible to kill plants in the planter in my front yard!

Yes that it exactly what they are!
