ESV Journaling Bible {Book Review}
Do you write in your Bible? I don’t necessarily mean the family Bible, with deaths, births, marriages, etc. But the one you take to services weekly with you? I do, and I love going back to look at my notes and thoughts, or even just the dates that we’ve covered a topic. And that’s what this version, the ESV Journaling Bible, is all about.

I like that this is a combination of a notebook and a Bible, so I don’t have to carry around 2 books. While I make a lot of notes during Bible study classes or sermons, sometimes I like to jot things down when I’m doing private study or praying for topics on my heart.
The elastic strap is nice so that the book stays closed, even when it’s in my bag or purse. Plus the dark text on the cream paper makes it easier to read.
A big difference for me is it’s not a wide margin Bible like my regular one. But the flip side is it has lines almost from top to bottom for my notes, dates, even names and prayer requests. I think if I were going to study a book of the Bible, or a topic long term, I’d probably get a separate journal/notebook so I had more room to write without worrying about keeping it small and neat.
This book also comes with a “read the Bible in a year” plan which are great for when you need a refresher or if you’re a fairly new Christian. And there are intros and headings for each book of the Bible which can be helpful for providing insight.
So if you’re looking for a Bible to keep personal notes or ideas right on the Scripture pages they pertain to, then the ESV Journaling Bible from Crossway would be a great place to start. Be sure to also find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest news and information.
I received the Bible. Thank you so much. I love it!
I have a Women’s Study Bible and I have really enjoyed learning as much as I can about Bible history and the historical context during the birth, life, and death of Jesus Christ. We have been through these studies as a part of our homeschooling curriculum and I can’t tell you how much of a blessing it is.
I have several Bibles that are favorites, bIut I think it would have to be my NKJV study Bible.
I currently have a large type Bible. Although I don’t have any vision issues, there is more room to write notes!
My favorite area to study is probably Corinthians.
How strange! A bible journal recently made it to my “wishlist!” I had never heard of them before just a few days ago. I love the idea, since I enjoy underlining and highlighting in books when I see something that stands out – but it’s SO impossible to write or highlight in a traditional bible.
I have been seeing these journaling Bibles and would love to have my own!
the bible i have right now is for teens….color coded for different subject areas. i would love an adult one
