Finding the Best Roommates and Amenities
Besides the big day of getting the letter of acceptance to the school of your choice, deciding where you will be living at said school is probably the biggest day of your first year at University. Think long and hard about where you will be living, because it will directly affect your social life, study habits, friendships, and much more. The good thing about college living is that it isn’t permanent. If you don’t like your roommates or another part of your living arrangements, when your contract is up, you can move elsewhere. However, moving can be a pain, so read through this article and think about the points brought up while you are considering your WVU housing options.
Roommates
This is the biggest factor to think about when planning your living arrangements. Roommates can make or break your time at school. Many freshmen choose to live in dorms for their first year, just to make the transition from home easier. However, if you are a freshmen or a senior, you can live off-campus and be successful. If you choose to live with your friends, it can be a little bit easier, because you already know their habits and personalities. If you don’t have anyone that you think would be a good match to room with, there are companies who will do a ‘roommate match’ for you. They pair you with people who have similar work habits, social habits, and schedules as you.
Amenities
While you are going to a university to study and get your degree, you need to have time to relax and have fun. Your choice in WVU housing should have some amenities to aid in your relaxation and social time. Number one on your list of amenities are a hot tub and a fitness center. Outside of school and work, your priorities are keeping physically active and relaxing in the hot tub when your homework is finished. Outside of those top two amenities, some others that might be nice to have include the following:
- Clubhouse
- Computer lounge
- Pool
- BBQ grills
- Volleyball court
- Basketball court
- Spa
- Tanning beds
