How to Mount a Picture Hanger

How to Mount a Picture Hanger

Have you ever tried to attach a picture mounting bracket to a frame? I can’t imagine the person that has small enough fingers to hold those LITTLE NAILS!!

Today while I was visiting with a friend, she asked me to help her mount the hanging bracket  on a couple of frames.

The following is a step by step tutorial that I hope will save you time, effort and sore fingers in the future!

Tools needed:  Hammer, Hanger set, tweezers, ruler, marker

Using the ruler, determine the mid/half point on the side of the frame. Mark with colored pen or pencil. (Double check that you are securing the mount on the correct side of the frame. Nothing like installing the mounting system upside down.

Place mounting bracket on center of line drawn as guide for mount area, sliding up or down as needed until you have it placed as needed.

Holding mount in place, mark in the two nail hole areas using colored pen or pencil. This will come in handy when the little nails move around and jump out of your grip as you attempt to nail them in place! Little buggers!

Place mount in desired location, lining up nail holes with marks previously made and make sure center point of mounting bracket is center on previous mark made with ruler.

Using tweezers, grasp one of the nails and place in nail hole on either side of the mounting bracket. Actually, pick one up, have it jump out of the end of the tweezers,  pick up again and repeat…SEVERAL TIMES!!!! Finally, with a death grip…you will get the little nail to be still enough – long enough for you to SLAM..I mean… tap the head without it jumping and sailing across the room. At this point I am wondering if my friend has super glue available.

Gently* tap head of nail with hammer until it is secured but not driven all the way into the frame. Repeat on other side. * Gently as in just enough force to drive nail into frame while NOT breaking the glass!

Once you have both nails secured, place thumb on mounting bracket to secure while you gently* tap nails into bracket until flush with the bracket.

Hang picture frame and enjoy your handiwork!

I usually have my boyfriend do all of the wall art but with these easy instructions, maybe I will just attempt the nursery pictures myself!
