I Use #MyDataMyWay With My Savings in April
Are you or your children always on their phone or tablets? Mine are, I am usually on both and with our current mobile plan, we were always pushing the limits of the plan, often resulting in overage charges. This year we have a new driver in our family and she will be out on her own more so we have been looking at phone plans for her.
Recently I heard about the Walmart Family Mobile service and decided to start one of our teenagers to that plan and give it shot. We opted to purchase the Alcatel Fierce 2 phone because it has a large full view screen yet it isn’t too heavy to slip in your pocket. This Android smartphone is packed with features like 4G connection speeds, 5 inch touchscreen display and, best of all, no contract!
Since we are considering changing carriers, we selected the $29.88 a month plan with Unlimited Talk, Text & Data (which includes up to 500MB of 4G LTE data) as our test plan. Most of our data use is in streaming music and sending images to each other. Knowing that streaming music can eat up your data, the Alcatel Fierce 2 has an option to automatically switch to WiFi when a connection is available. The switch must be seamless because I have not noticed any dropped calls or break in connection as we get in and out of the vehicles with places that have an open WiFi.
The month of April and the newness of Spring, with the schedule getting filled for summer plans seemed like a good time to give the Walmart Family Mobile plan a try. All of us seem to be going in different directions and being able to keep up with each other is really important. Add that we have a new driver in the house…and the benefit of them having a way to contact us while out makes this service almost a no brainer.
Setup was easy with the online step by step instructions. This only took about five minutes from start to finish once everything was entered. We did have to make a return trip to the store as the original starter kit was defective. Again, one of the many benefits of shopping at Walmart is that they are open 24/7 and help is never far away.
The one important point to make is that this service is a post paid, meaning you pay for your service at the end of the month. You do not have to provide any credit or credit card information to activate a phone plan. Payments can of course be made online but they can just as easily be made in any Walmart store.
Some of the benefits we considered when opting to consider this plan were:
~ The price: Yep..when you have 5+ family members that all want cell phones the price is a major concern. $29.88 a month plan with Unlimited Talk, Text & Data is an awesome deal. Walmart has the Lowest Priced Unlimited Plans that includes Unlimited Talk Text and Data/Web we have been able to find. Additional lines can be added for even more savings.
~ Convenience: Being able to go to Walmart and pick up a phone 24/7 certainly has it’s advantages.
~ Coverage: The coverage maps indicate service is available in all the areas that we would normally visit.
~ Payment process: Since this is a post-paid plan, you will pay for your service at the end of each month, not up front. (Disclaimer: All prices for phones and plans included in this post are accurate as of the date of posting; however, these prices are subject to change. Please visit Walmart Family Mobile or your local Walmart for current pricing.)
Whether you are looking for a phone for yourself or for that new driver, Walmart Family Mobile service plans should be at the top of your list for consideration. Not only is the service plan amazing, but the pricing can’t be beat! Great service and coverage coupled with the expected Walmart savings that we all know and love; make for an easy decision.
