Ice Cool Game of Chasing Penguins
When you’re looking for a fun game to play with the whole family, it’s nice to have a quick-paced exciting game of chase, right? Well, almost…why not an Ice Cool game of chasing penguins? Let me tell you about these cool penguins looking for fish and a good race!
You won’t believe it! These penguins are real rascals: if your flick is good enough, they can slide not only straight, they can make curves and even jump over the walls. Each player will have to use the best of their skills in order to get the most points in this fun and exciting game. It’s not just cool, it’s ICE COOL!
HOW TO PLAY
In each round one penguin is the Catcher and other penguins are the Runners. Number of rounds equals number of players. The Runners starts from the Classroom and flick their penguin, trying to go through the doors and get the yummy fish of the same color. By doing so, the penguin gets a Fish card with victory points on it or even extra bonus – additional turn to flick your penguin. The Catcher starts from the spot in the Kitchen and tries to catch all the rascals before all the fish is eaten by bumping into the Runners. Watch out! The round ends when any Runner has collected all 3 fish tokens of his color or if the Catcher has caught all Runners. The Catcher gets Fish cards for each penguin he caught during the round. Now it’s the next penguin’s turn to be the Catcher! Count victory points on Fish cards and find out the winner.
This isn’t your ordinary board game. It is a board game, but it’s made of room boxes that are pinned together with white wooden fish. Then you take turns flicking colorful plastic penguins around the different rooms, all the while being chased by the Chaser Penguin character. And whoever has the most fish victory points at the end of all the rounds wins the game!
There aren’t too many rules to remember and you aren’t playing with dice. It comes down to flicking your color penguin through doorways, along halls, and even over the top of the wall to collect the correct color fish without being caught by whoever is the Chaser for that round. The box suggests for ages six and up but I wouldn’t let that stop your youngest members from giving it a shot. The average game takes us about 20-30 minutes, depending on skill level and luck. And thankfully, it all fits back inside each other when it’s clean up time and can be put away until the next time we’re ready to play.
And if you’re the Chaser, then your job is to bump into the Runners and catch them before they clear all of their fish from the board that round. And since everyone takes a turn at being a Runner and a Chaser, it’s not like a player has to sit out or do extra work for the entire game. Now it can get a little loud and hectic around the Ice Cool game of chasing penguins, but we try to keep it positive and kind between all the players. Bonus, in case you lose your copy of the rules, they are available to download from the website!
You have to check out this Ice Cool game of chasing penguins around the school rooms today for your family or classroom! It would make a great gift and new addition for your next family game night.
