Inexpensive Weekend Getaway Ideas

Inexpensive Weekend Getaway Ideas

Inexpensive Weekend Getaway Ideas

We all need to get away now and again, especially when we find ourselves under a lot of stress. Sadly, that weekend getaway that we desperately need, may not come cheap. If you are looking for inexpensive weekend getaway ideas, read on!

Here are a couple of suggestions for when you are looking for an inexpensive weekend getaway:

Girls Getaways

It has never been easier to get away for the weekend with your girlfriends and do so inexpensively. The reason for this is that you can get an awesome group rate for you and your girlfriends just about anywhere. Last minute deals often even include air fare and meals!

Since the economy took a down turn, extras and extravagant luxuries also came down in price. Companies are looking for ways to fill their locations and will offer group rates that are excellent.

For example, if you are looking for a Florida vacation, stay in one of the lesser known and least crowded areas such as St. Petersburg or St. Augustine. The beaches are beautiful, but the cost is significantly less than your typical Miami or Orlando stay.

The draw of a girls' getaway is that it resembles an old-fashioned sleepover, with a bunch of girls crammed into one room. Who needs a lot of activities when you are with your girlfriends? Enjoy the pool or beach while spending time catching up and laughing.

Romantic Weekend Getaways

If you are planning a romantic weekend getaway, you are in luck. Variety is the spice of life on this one. You could always opt for a more luxurious hotel in New York or Atlanta that offers spa treatments and choose to do things that are free such as a romantic picnic in the park or a stroll downtown to window shop.

Hotels offer amazing packages if you can travel with short notice. Check your local area for deals too. I like to figure out the area that is within 2 hours of our home and look for places within that circle to book our getaways. That way, transportation costs do not add to the weekend and we are close enough to get home should a need arise.

Romantic Bed and Breakfast Inns are a great way to save some money as your meals are often included. Many B&B's are located in historical areas and have amazing parks to wander or properties that just want you to grab a blanket, a book and your sweetie for afternoon of relaxing together.

Off Weekend Adventure Getaways

Consider taking your couple of nights either on a Thursday/Friday or a Sunday/Monday instead of the traditional Friday/Saturday nights. Rates are normally lower and locations are less crowded. We recently found a trip from Cincinnati to Jamaica for a total of $399! This was not for each person.. but for both of us! Meals, lodging and transportation were included in the package price. We never needed to leave the resort location.

If you are looking for ways to sneak away for the weekend, consider signing up for last minute notifications from your favorite travel agency or airline.

As you can see, there is always a way if you have the desire to getaway for the weekend. Time and effort are the best tools you can use to find the location and attractions within your budget. Email or call the manager of the property you are hoping to visit and ask if they have any manager specials they could offer. Call other locations in the area and see what they will offer or if they will match the offer from another property. Your couple of hours searching for deals, could save you hundreds of dollars on your next getaway.

Do you have a favorite source for saving money on getaways?

One of our favorite things to do in the winter is get a hotel room for the weekend at the beach. Rates are very low because it’s off season. We’re just looking for alone time anyways and we like the beach no matter how the weather is.

Great ideas for those with some extra money. We send our children out to do shopping and my husband and I spend time doing things we want to do together. There are several reasons for this but the main reason we do this is because I am 100% disabled with so many allergies that going anywhere for me could be a death sentence. When I do go anywhere I can get really sick even at the Dr. Office because people swim in fragrances. Even the cleaners many places use make me sick. So I stay home and just send the kids to do any shopping they need to do and give them the money for what we need and my husband put a Christian Video in and watch or just listen to a MP3 audio for a couple hours.
