Island Bike and Cart Rental {Review}

Island Bike and Cart Rental {Review}

Island Bike and Cart Rental {Review}

Alright readers, if you're going to Put-in-Bay, make sure you are renting a golf cart! Cars are allowed on the island, but parking for them is another matter. And what better place to get your golf cart than from Island Bike and Cart Rental, which is located in 3 locations, including by Jet Express and the Miller Boat Line. You get off the ferry and step up to rent your cart!

Cart Rentals
The island's largest fleet of all-electric carts!  Besides being eco-friendly, our electric carts are clean and quiet!

With 2-, 4- & 6-passenger carts, we are sure to have a cart to fit your family.  Plus, we now have a “Call Ahead” policy: Give us a ring from either ferry dock & we'll hold your cart 'til you get here! ( We'll hold it w/a credit card, for up to an hour, at a pre-paid discount daily rate).

Bicycles and Child Transportation
Nicest selection of bicycles on the island! Single-speed coaster-brake bikes to fit all ages and sizes.

Not only can you get a golf cart for your adventure, you could even rent a bike instead! They also have tandem bikes if you'd prefer to ride together.

We had a group of 6 so we got the largest golf cart which fit us just fine. It's three rows of seats, with the last row actually facing backwards. There's plenty of places to hold on, don't worry!

About the parking situation, when you are in Put-in-Bay near the attractions, shopping, and restaurants, the streets are lined with small parking spots that are a perfect fit for the golf carts. I can't imagine trying to drive around to find a place to put our van! Then you just snatch the keys out of the ignition and run into wherever you want to go!

While there is obviously no A/C or heat, the roof did provide a lot of protection from the sun while we explored the island. And the breeze was wonderful when it picked up off the lake!

Being an electric cart, it was super quiet and the battery lasted us for several hours, both in active exploration mode and just puttering around and stopping here and there. It did not like the sharper hills and there is no power steering, but with experience, we figured it out and compensated for it just fine.

I like that you can get right off the two major ferry lines and walk right up to the window to rent a cart. I'd suggest you call ahead of course to make sure they have one available for your party. And they usually offer coupons or discounts on their website!

Be sure to check out Island Bike and Cart Rental the next time you're heading to Put-in-Bay on Lake Erie, whether you need a passenger golf cart or a few bicycles. Keep up with them on Facebook and Twitter as well!

    Your adventure sounds fun. What are you supposed to do when the battery runs out, though? I can imagine if you drive around all day that is bound to happen.

      I have never had the battery die and we have been on them all day long! I would imagine their setup is different than the little cart one might have at home. These are road legal carts.

    Convenient ferry and cart tips. An island visit sounds just fine.

    There’s many places I’d want to stop and get a memory photo…. One day I might get the luck to do such a thing!
