Meet A Friend Friday
I am so pleased to be able to introduce you to another great fellow blogger from Sandling All Day! Please welcome Marianne from Sandling All Day to Simply Sherryl! She’s answered my questions, but if you are curious about more, leave your questions below and I’m sure she’ll come by and answer them too!
1. Tell us a little bit about your blog:
Sandling All Day is a mom’s blog of family information and resources with a focus on parenting children with special needs. We also offer open & honest product reviews, recipes & easy meal ideas, home/garden decor, design and trends as well as blogger information.
2. How long have you been blogging and what do you love about it?
I’ve been blogging since April ’11, but really got into it this past November. I love having the ability to share myself, my thoughts and opinions. I have anxiety, so it’s difficult to talk to people in person. Blogging allows me to talk to anyone who will listen without the worry.
3. Who is the person or group behind the blog?
Oh wow… I am a 33yr old mom of 2 boys, 7 (L.S.) & 14 (Mr.) I am married to a wonderful 58yr old man. We actually just celebrated our 11th anniversary on Feb 18th. I am disabled (too many issues to list, but if someone really wants to know, you can ask), my husband is disabled (a MVA) and my 7yr old is special needs. My 14yr old lives with his father now, so it can be a bit tricky entertaining L.S. He has Oppositional Defiance Disorder and Severe Anxiety, as well as sensory, social and emotional issues.
4. What hobbies/interests do you have?
Aside from blogging, I collect sunflowers, Coca Cola items and stamps, (yes, I said it… I have been stamp collecting since I was 12!) I also really love entering giveaways! I’ve won well over 50 (lost count… I think it’s something like 70) since mid-November. I’ve won everything from a year of web-hosting, to a Skil cordless screwdriver, lots of health/beauty items, giftcards/codes to plenty of websites etc. Besides that, I love spending time with my son, L.S. We have family time every night, with a theme (craft night, movie night and so forth) so that makes it easier.
5. What is your favorite topic to write about?
I actually have 2. My passion is product reviews. I love being able to give my opinions and share them with others. However, my goal is to provide as much information and resources to parents as possible. While it can be easy to find technical information on a specific diagnosis, it’s much harder to find other parents going through similar issues, find local/state/federal assistance and well, an ear to listen. That’s what I try and provide. If there is something specific that a parent needs for their special needs kid, I am willing to try to find it. I’m known as the “resource queen” in my area.
6. What advice would you give to new bloggers?
Hang in there! It can be overwhelming at times when you’re getting started. Everything from rankings and scores to companies that won’t work with a newbie, it can be frustrating. I’d suggest finding some blogger groups (there are plenty on FB) and asking questions. Start slow!
7. Do you use a blogging planner and if so, which one? Why?
I don’t have one… Do you have a suggestion for one? (I’ll be reading the other featured blogger’s answers for this one!)
8. Three of my favorite blogs to visit are:
“Oh no you didn’t…. lol!!! Honestly, I can’t narrow it down… I follow at least 200.
9. Three of my favorite posts on my blog are:
See How Much I Love You -SHMILY- coins
Valentine’s Day with my Family
10. Are you planning on attending any of the Blogging Conferences this year? If so, which ones?
Unfortunately, no. I am attending other events as a speaker.
Now that you know a little more about Marianne, don’t forget to check out her social media presence… you can find her on Facebook and Pinterest
Anything else you would like for the readers to know about you or your blog?
In the past year I have really embraced the idea that each of us have a unique story to share with the world. No two stories are the same. So believe in yourself, dig deep and find that story you are meant to share.
